Now that i've finally got changed over to Budget Energy i hope to see a little saving on my meter. I notice Airtricity are really doing the sales push being camped at the exits of B&Q and Homebase over the last week or so. I told them i had just switched to Budget Energy pre-pay meter and they conceded that it was cheaper than Airtricity at the moment but that Budget were due to put their prices up again at Christmas. Anyone else heard this?
Havent heard of this Chick but i hope they dont.I reckoned a few weeks ago that when all is said and done with the increase Budget made recently I am no further forward than i was with NIE.But i am probably saving at least a little since NIE also increased their prices.Airtricity are probably going to increase theirs as well at some stage but they arent probably telling us that yet.
  • mmmm...I wonder is it still worth moving from airtricity to Budget? Airtricity only do fixed term contracts now if I leave and want to move back to them. At the minute there is almost 2p per unit difference between the two (budget energy increased their price in November)

I inherited a house last month . The electric was with airtricity .I phoned airtricity and got the supply put into my name .They said there in no minimum contract but they would be sending me T&C via post .As the house is empty I am not bothered about moving to budget just yet .

  • Now up and running with Budget, even got a £ 7.5 refund from NIE after termination date!

Now saving about £7 per month so that is useful.

Don't like paying one month in advance for anything these days with all these firms going bust all around!
Even get my oil delivered before payment is made ,just in case.

The advance payment is in their small print so I will have to get used to it.

Will let you know how things go with Budget after a few months.

At the moment, things are looking good!

Same to you Hazel, best wishes for 2012.
  • So it's a new year and purse strings are getting tighter, and there's no where better to start saving money than in the home!
The question is who is the best electric supplier in NI at the minute?

Currently I'm with PowerNI but many around me are switching to Airtricity, although Budget Energy have called to the door to throw their hat into the ring!

Who to switch to and why is the question?

Budget Energy imho.I'm saving around £2 to £3 a fortnight compared to what I was paying PowerNI.
I've also switched my gas from Phoenix to Firmus & am noticing a difference there as well...:D
