That is a very good and valuabled point, Edna! I will keep that in mind!
I stopped procrastinating for a little, eventually, and i successfully managed to hand in my essay. Although, i think the handing in part will be he only part done 'successfully'...0 -
Ok...so I thought I'd make an early start on a 3,000 word assignment that has to be in in two weeks. But look where I am!!!!!
I WILL do some work today....0 -

Maybe but a money saving slant on this....
The more time you spend on MSE site instead of finishing that 100000000 word essay, the money money you'll have to pay on leccy!
No? Hmmmm ok......
How about, you're at uni because you want a better job and lots of money (the worth of a degree aside for now!). Every time you rush an essay and don't do as well as you could, it's lowering your marks and lowering you're future earnings......
I say this, yet I'm still away at 1am, on MSE instead of finishing my essay.... ooopsPlease note: I am NOT Martin Lewis, just somebody else called Martyn that likes money saving!0 -

Hi everyone, I'm quite new to MSE but I'm just gonna jump right in here...
I know all of the advice in this thread, but I still cannot force myself to do the work!
At my uni, we have a penalty of 2% every day that your essay is late. I currently have two essays at the 20% penalty mark and I haven't even started.
They're only 2000 words and they are so easy to me. I could probably write a good essay within about 6 hours start to finish, but I do not.
I sometimes even decide not to go into lectures, so I force myself to work on my essays, but I just end up doing the washing, or tidying around the house.
It's gotten so bad that I can hardly bare to get out of bed in the mornings. Life has sucked hard recently, lots of death about, and I just find I can't see a meaning in doing any of my essays. It seems so unimportant. And every day I leave it, it gets worse and worse.
I just don't know how to get over it. If i force myself to get up and gather my books, after about 5 minutes I fall asleep anyway, so now I know that if I try I'll waste the day in unconciousness.
I don't know how to explain any of this to anyone at school who could help. I've done the school counsellors before but evidently, its completely unhelpful. I feel like if I could just get off the hook this one time, it would all be okay, but it's too late.
Have any of you been through procrastination as bad as this?0 -
I think I'm even newer than you princess_sarah!
I used to be exactly like that in both my first and second years at uni (I was diagnosed with depression in my first year) and it's led me to repeating my second year - I failed the first attempt rather spectacularly!
Not really sure what I can suggest to help, but just letting you know that you're not on your own feeling like that!0
