Agreed. Its actually the Leeds contact centre. As the woman with an obvious sinus problem informs you when you dial it.0 -

thanks, i would be obliged if someone would dial the special number i was given by the general dept. to ask questions about the account and see what they say. If they come back with a no or they don't know they i will send a polite email asking if they informed me correctly and post it up.0

Is says our Easycash department is now closed our opening hours are XYZ.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
Thanks, strange how it should be putting you through to the 24 hour call centre that all numbers lead to, don't you think. Or do you think a few people have made a mistake. It is actually a special number to deal with internal / very specific matters about easycash account only, i have just found out! Maybe that is why it is called "easycash helpline".
It is not the line for getting your bank balance etc., hence the word special line in earlier posts.0 -

Unless you have been calling the easycash applications helpline(who close at 4:30) and only deal with queries regarding pending/missing application packs(and the line routes through to one of the main processing centres). There is no 'special' department for dealing with the accounts, they are after all the most basic account that is offered, why would the bank pay to train and staff a helpline for accounts that dont make any money?100% G33K:D:D:D:D

You're correct. Like stclair said, the number is only open between set hours (which incidentally are something strange like 9:30 till 4:30), which clearly indicates this is a specific team of staff (otherwise it would be 24 hours like the rest of telephone banking).
Leeds is a big contact centre, and AFAIK not purely telephone banking (i.e. 08457 20 30 40).
On the more general point of the thread, regardless of timescales, a migration to online Visa Debit cards seems the logical move during integration. Especially considering Bank of Scotland's coming adoption of LTSB's product range - it would seem strange to have two cards which perform the same function operating across three brands (online Debit for LTSB and BoS; and Electron for Halifax).
Edit: As Azrael_1701 points out, the line savagej has referred to is Easycash Applications, and existing accounts are serviced through the normal telephone banking line. However it doesn't take a stretch of the imagination to realise that a team that deals with Easycash Applications may be aware of pending changes before other departments (even if it's pure speculation or rumour).
Can I point out that everyone's being a little pedantic about savage's definition of this departments function, the main point of the thread was about the ditching of Visa Electron, and it's gone way off track.Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. I try to provide answers based in fact, however I don't know everything, so (like all posters on MSE), take what I say with a pinch of salt.0 -

I thought BOS and Halifax were the same thing, you can even log into your Halifax account from the BOS website.0
