The Riots Still Continue, when will it ever end

Options
I feel sorry for these people that have lost everything over these thugs. Burning down everything and peoples property and even breaking into peoples Homes. Costing people lots of money, and now saying on the news that the police cant do anything. As a shop keeper said who had his shop destroyed, there is no excuse for this, simply using an excuse for not having a future to steal everything and anything, yet they can afford expensive cell phones. As he said, there are 3rd world countries that have nothing and no food and they dont even carry on this way. He said these looters looked well fed and clothed well. Plus they have not brought in the army either as the police simply cant cope with it all. Its like they are just jumping on the band wagon to join in and steal. Its just unsafe to go to a lot of places at the moment and we feel trapped by this all. Now the looters have realised just exactly what they can get away with god only knows what will become of this country for the future.

Water cannon, laced with indelible dye. Easy to pick up the scum later. They have no fear, even the 1st offenders, quick slap on wrist and their back out.

I have always been a supporter of CCTV in public places, the more the better IMO. It's being used with great success to pick up the perpetrators - but anyone who's just listed to the report on the Today Programme just now will be hanging their head in despair. The consequences just aren't enough of a deterrent because "everyones doing it, innit" and "the jails are full" and "I can live with an ASBO, innit".

Simple solution. Undercover armed police / soldiers. Let them mingle with the rioters. When they see someone looting ( i.e. they're caught in the act, no question about guilt ), shoot them there and then. Problem sorted, no chance of the scum re-offending, and no spending thousands of tax-payers' money to keep them in a holiday camp - sorry, prison.

Bring out the tear gas and they waive any rights to prosecute the police if they get injured

I heard on Radio 1 yesterday that rubber bullets have never been used on mainland UK, only in Northern Ireland (not sure if that's true)? I lived in Northern Ireland for 2 years during the 90's so can understand why they were needed over there, but I would have thought a situation like this would be justified use as well.

I like the idea of water cannon with dye as well.

It won't end until the police are allowed to use more than a shield and some handcuffs.

If the police had set a proper 'This will not be tolerated' example on the first night in London by coming down on those idiots with rubber bullets and water cannons then it wouldn't have erupted in other cities.

I watched the short interview with Maurice Reeves on one of the TV news channels last night - he is the 80 year old owner of the Croydon furntiure shop that was completely gutted by fire on Monday night. It was the same day as his wedding anniversary, and he watched on TV as his shop, run by his family for almost 150 years, went up in smoke. I really felt for him.

Turn off the countries CCTV Cameras, shut down the mobile networks and let the Police tackle these worthless scumbags once and for all without fear of being disciplined or losing their jobs. Don’t these kids/adults/dic*heads realise what they are actually destroying is their own future..............

Well these idiots have meant rubber bullets will now be a regular part of the polices armoury, and our civil liberties are further eroded. All for some new crappy trainers, you ********s.
