Shock, horror mobileshop in move to help customers claim cashback

It looks like mobileshop are trying to get back in my good books. I posted here a few days ago that I had spotted someone in mobileshop's cashback testimonial page mentioning that they allow you to email your cashback claim instead of posting. Nobody replied so I guess there was not much interest in this but in light of the huge advantages of emailing over posting I thought I had better get this confirmed. So I sent the following email to their cust support

"Hi,
I have a question about one of the latest cashback testimonials on your
customer comments page. On 27/12/2006 Dan Brazil makes reference to
sending cashback details via email. Is this true and does that mean that
I do not have to send a copy of my bill via the postal system? This
method of sending cashback claims is not mentioned in the cashback faq.
Thank you. "

and I got back the following

"
Thank you for your email, the claims can be emailed into us.

Hope this helps"

Damn right this will help!!! No need to use recorded delivery is a major plus for a start. So are mobileshop finally turning things round or are they not bothered anymore as they are going to go under anyway?

Actually I'm not but they have delayed my last cashback payment and have repeatedly delayed paying my quidco cashback payments for the 2 mobiles I got from them last summer. They are hanging on to cashbacks as long as possible so that they can wring out every extra bit of interest that they can get away with. My cashbacks from them previously were paid on the dot 45 days after the voucher expired as stated in the their t&cs at the time. Now even though they have increased the period from 45 to 60 days(quite a long time already) there are loads of people who are getting the cashbacks weeks after they were supposed to do. The crunch time for me will be in February as I will be due two cashbacks of £60 & £90 respectively. If they delay again then I will have to conclude that they are having cashflow problems and not all the other excuses they have fobbed customers off with so far.

    read the various threads?

I'm still waiting for my Quidco payment for a contract taken out in July (yep, that's six months ago).

There are dozens of examples of Mobileshop delaying cashback payments.

They're battling to stay afloat, I'll give them that..........my cashback claim, just submitted, was acknowledged with an email to visit a webpage to swap the cash for some cheap, tacky crap.........failing that, they invited me to visit http://www.mobileshop.com/wap/ to spend £1 on the off-chance I'd double my cashback.

Anyone using Mobileshop now on the basis of a cashback offer would have to be mad.

Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.

I suppose it depends on the amount of cashback to determine the offer. Admittedly, the DVD player could be better explained (with brand, model etc) so that you can see if it is worth the £105 (this was one of my options) but I thought £110.25 in Argos vouchers within the next 30 days was a reasonable alternative to £105 in April or thereabouts (of course, only useful if you usually spend in Argos and can therefore do without the £105 cash!).

You are in a slightly better position than me as I am waiting for one also bought in July but have another from August as well. That's 2 lots of 4 cashback payments I will be worrying about over the next few months never mind the non appearance of the quidco money. Have you been tearing your hair out seeing the expected payout date at quidco forever being delayed like me?

Well I've actually resigned myself to not getting a penny out of them as all the signs clearly point to them walking the financial tightrope in a hurricane.

If I get anything at all I'll consider it a bonus.

You're lucky. I went through quidco in August (my first ever transaction with them) it didn't track and has been showing as sent to merchant since end of August.

On the other hand, I posted my first cashback claim yesterday, had email confirmation today and have claimed my cashback as Argos vouchers, as I will use them no problem, plus it give me aa bit more

Just tried to link to mobile shop thru quidco. Try the link via quidco. You will notice that the Quidco referral id does not form part of the mobileshop url. Would therefore question whether the commission will get paid.

Whether this is intentional on mobileshop's part, I don't know.

I've emailed quidco to ask them, as there is a deal I want from mobileshop but also would like teh quidco cash element
