Trying to sell my house
Comments

The net curtain in the front window would put me off. Just looks so old fashioned. The whole house just looks tired.. Could you not afford a couple of tins of cheap magnolia and pain the house with that? I.
I don't have any tins of paint and can't afford anyone to come and do it. Its not just about buying the paint its about actually DOING the painting and I'm rubbish, I would make it look worse than it is, plus it would take far too long to paint every room and I have no childcare what do I do with my lad whilst Im making a hash of painting my house. trust me I would make it look like more of DIY disaster than it already is.
I'm aware that the property is dated, but there isn't much i can do except more de cluttering.
I will be speaking to the estate agent about some new pics though and see what they say.
Good to get others viewsI need to start saving so I plan to save £2 a week to start with:beer:0 -
Change your agent. Some people looking to buy a house will not deal with certain estate agents so there is a good chance you will get some fresh buyers, and a new estate agent will work harder to get a sale. You should not be tied in after 6 months so there shouldn't be a problem.
And don't worry too much about tarting it up.People can see past the decor and many actually prefer that so they can justify changing it to suit their own taste.0 -
OP - have you no friends/family who could help out with the painting/childcare/loan of better furniture? It doesn't have to cost a penny...0

I come from Hull and the housing market is in the gutter here at the moment. Prices are currently down 7.7% year on year and 6.7% since January alone. Theres also the problem of less than 200 sales per month which is about a third of before the crash. I know your area quite well and unfortunately 2 bed terraced houses are ten to a penny so if you want to sell you have to either price aggressively or stand out from the rest.
A friend of mine just got a two bed semi on Kingswood built 8 years ago with a garage, garden and side-drive for £78,000, so you're going to struggle to get £60,000 for a 2-bed terraced with no parking in this climate.0 -
the estate agent has agreed to redo the photos for freeI need to start saving so I plan to save £2 a week to start with:beer:0

thats good. have to say it all just looks tired, lets hope the new pics show it better'We're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time0

its not a flea pit, i expected dreadful sights after reading these comments, but neither does it inspire desireability, its not pretty
i also share OPs concern about slapping paint around, if you're not any good at decorating then you can easily turn a property that is struggling, into a property that looks like its very badly trying to hide something, the finish will be terrible and it will be a let down
OP needs to tidy up, clean, get better pictures, maybe get a few throws, declutter and sell it as it is. any exposed wires and stuff like that need to be moved out of the way0 -

Get them to do the photos in photoshop....0 -
I would change the estate agent who takes out of focus, badly composed pics like that.
What did he take them with? a camera phone.

Right now LR says prices are pretty much back where they were back then.... £54,309 for a terraced house June 2011.
Your house is particularly badly presented. If you need to clear £65k, then you are expecting a buyer to clear other debts for you.
How come your mortgage is so big when you paid so much less and what makes you think you will find a greater fool to pay those debts for you?
The listing has changed and it looks like it's going into auction... probably the best way to unload it if the guide price is attractive.FOR SALE BY AUCTION, STARTING BID £40,000 (PREVIOUS LIST PRICE £74,950)
Price changed: [STRIKE]Offers Over £60,000[/STRIKE] Guide Price £40,0000
