New Enterprise Allowance scheme - My story

I echo Andy. My personal position is, in the first month I have minimal work, but will still turn a profit, as both my start-up costs and monthly expenses are so low. Others, who need to buy in stock, may find it hard to get the P&L showing a profit for a good while, despite working their fingers to the bone.
I'm lucky that I can run this business with expenses that can rise in conjunction with the work, rather than in expectation of work.0 -
So, i went into the job centre today, after making a complaint about how long it's taking.
It turns out that the advisor i have been seeing (who has been sorting out the NEA stuff for me), hasn't been doing it properly! So i have having to start from scratch. Oh the joy!
So they have now re-referred me to the NEA team. Oh Lordy, i am FINALLY getting somewhere!
The person that i spoke to today has also deferred my mandatory sign up to the work programme for 3 months. So, i WONT have to worry about not being eligible for NEA (as i have now been on JSA for 12 months), as it was THEIR c0ck up, not anything to do with me.
If nothing happens within the next 2 weeks i have decided that i will just get a part time job (oh i made that sound so easy!!) and do the business start up on my own alongside the PT work.
I cannot wait any longer!
oh, the advisor also gave me the direct phone number for the 3rd party agency who do the mentoring, and said to nag them if i don't hear anything, but not to tell them who gave me the phone number!Hahahaha!!

That's great news (well, not that it's not been getting done right, but you know what I mean!)
I got another payment into my account of £65 today - now I'm going to assume that's definitely a NEA payment! That would be me up to date with payments if the original £130 last week was a NEA payment too - this is my third week since I signed off.0 -
I'm pleased to hear that things seem to be getting sorted out for you now WantToBe.
I think I received my first NEA payment yesterday, which is really quick if that's what it is! It's £65 and says DWP JSA after it, but I also received my final JSA payment today.
I registered with HMRC online today, and rang tax credits for a claim form, it took ages to get through to them!!
I just need to get some money coming in from my business now, and then I'll feel like I'm really on my way.New Year New You Challenge - 13.5lbs/10lbs

Oooh, my payments have the code DWP CHSR not JSA or NEA as I would have expected?!0
-
Pinky, I had a letter from the JC saying that the NEA payments would have CHSR after them.
I think mine is probably the allowance, but its all very confusing!!New Year New You Challenge - 13.5lbs/10lbs

Glad things seem to be getting sorted WanttobeSE. It's not good enough though, is it?
Pinkpoopydoo and Bellkat yay you're off!
I've not heard a dicky bird yet from Ixion, part of me is thinking my adviser didn't fax the form over. Just a supposition though, it may just me being extremely impatient and wanting to crack on! Got a list of things I want to do but can't yet. Don't want to be told no as you're already trading lol!0 -
Now that I have been told no to NEA and been put on working programme, I decided to just go for the self employment myself and just work the 15 hours per week in order to allow me still to claim my full benefit money.
That was the plan until I received a letter today telling me that JC have now handed me a 17 week sanction on my benefit money.
First 4 weeks is for not attending a working programme that I never knew anything about although they claim to have sent me a letter.
Then 13 weeks for not attending another date of which I had spoke to advisor about when signing on and they ok'd it for me to reschedule and i would not be sanctioned. They are now saying they cant find anything about it on their system.
Its back to the drawing board for me with regards to self employment.0 -
