Blame it on the cuts

900 that could of made a difference.
Am I correct in thinking Police cuts (like most proposed cuts) have yet to really bite yet?
This is not about cuts. This is the failure over the last 20 years to halt the rise of the oft mentioned underclass. These people are not starving, they are not making a political point and they are not protesting about anything.
They are simply seeing what they can get away with and since that is currently an awful lot given the softly softly policing, the situation is self perpetuating.Go round the green binbags. Turn right at the mouldy George Elliot, forward, forward, and turn left....at the dead badger0 -
There were 6000 police on the streets of london last night, the police are prohibited by red tape from clobbering the culprits regardless of the destruction they are causing. All they can do is arrest, when it all calms down, take them in without causing physical harm and start the long drawn out process of interview and question (at a huge cost to an already overstreched budget). If the police handled the rioters with the necessary robust action this would once again have been called racist?
If this had happend in any African country, The Dugan family would have been told to stop interfeering with Police investigation and dogs, tear gas and rubber bullets would have been used on the crowds of rioters.
"Cuts" has caused this, I dont think so! a growing lawless group in society is what has caused this.Return and Restart August 2016

You may well be right. However, it isn't beyond the realms of possibility that this sort of behaviour could be triggered by the youth feeling hopeless about their future. Yes, these hooligans could get a good education and a decent job, but could it be that they are now thinking that getting access to a decent education and a job afterwards is now limited.
.
So what about the majority of kids from these backgrounds that are law abiding?0 -

I do find her quite cute though.0 -
While I agree with the comments above, and will say that the kids taking part in these riots are criminals that should be punished, I am wondering if this is a simple case of random vandalism using spending cuts as an excuse. Could it be that the youth are finally realising that their future prospects are not so bright ?
Rubbish, they live in the job capital of the country, this was pure unadulterated criminality, for fun and reward. Now, if it had kicked off in Grimsby?'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -
Just puts the mockers on the argument that the poor little darlings are rioting because society is so nasty to them and they have no hope, so should be forgiven.
Does it ?
I think it just shows that most of them are either happy with their prospects, or don't feel enraged enough to demonstrate their feelings in a criminal manner.
BTW. I'm not saying that the rioters are taking action because of society, I'm just throwing out the idea for discussion.30 Year Challenge : To be 30 years older. Equity : Don't know, don't care much. Savings : That's asking for ridicule.0
