Groups of criminal thugs vandalising property, looting local businesses, and then committing arson on a massive scale to cars, houses, shops, etc.
It's a miracle some innocent family hasn't died in one of those fires yet.
Long past time to bring back the water cannon, mounted police charges, and army issued with rubber bullets.
I agree with you Hamish (never thought i would write that!)
In the north of Ireland the plastic bullets and water cannons are sent out right away. Why not the UKs's capital?
These London rioters are nothing but neds who just want more handouts0 -
While I agree with the comments above, and will say that the kids taking part in these riots are criminals that should be punished, I am wondering if this is a simple case of random vandalism using spending cuts as an excuse. Could it be that the youth are finally realising that their future prospects are not so bright ?30 Year Challenge : To be 30 years older. Equity : Don't know, don't care much. Savings : That's asking for ridicule.0

Use water cannon first. The little ones will get washed away then you can shoot rubber bullets at the older lot.
Agree with this. Parents need to be arrested and jailed if their kids and found guilty of public order offences.0 -

I don't think that the youths are so bright that they think along these lines. This is just a case of opportunistic mob rule."When the people fear the government there is tyranny, when the government fears the people there is liberty." - Thomas Jefferson0 -
If I was in charge there would be an Army-enforced curfew tonight in all major cities and a blackout on all mobile communications.
I think that working for a Chinese company is starting to influence me...0 -
Ken Livingstone is saying the riots are a result of cutting expenditure on the police and armed forces so they no longer have the resources to deal with lawlessness at home?
It seems a fair comment to me.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

With what army?
Look, we are fighting more wars at the moment than any time since the last world war. At the same time we are cutting the armed forces dramatically.
We don't have the resources to send the army into every city in Britain.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

The Authorities need to bribe selected youngsters in the affected areas to snitch on the ringleaders and troublemakers they see on the streets.
Then let it be known that there are informants in every community giving them these details.
Soon the youths will be fighting each other.0
