For what it is worth I went for the south west of Iceland, where a new Island has been created by geothermal activity uniting the 4 elements of earth fire air and water.

Iceland is among the destinations mentioned by the prize company and on the dotted line left on the map. It also triangulated the top of the shape before they removed it.
For practical reasons (the prize offer) and this answer vindicates MY reasons for not saying yet since it make me think I missed something now ....
lydias has a good idea here and it's different from what I thought ....

  • I went for the south east of Iceland as well, as that was where my original triangulation was pointing towards and also the fragment of map - just for luck I dotted them in Greenland, UK and Amsterdam as well - -RAFLMAO!!!!

I'm in 2 minds about the way this threads is starting to open up.

Like some of the regular posters, I feel a little peeved that someone is saying I've got all the answers but I'm not going to share as the fun for me was working it out. This seems illogical to me because:-
    • if you've had your fun, sharing your answers is not going to take away your fun,
    • this particular comp works on the basis of, if 2 people get the answer right, whoever
entered first is the winner, so if someone decides to copy your answer you still win, and,
    • the arguement, I contribute to the debates but not the answers and especially not this one, because it took me a while to work them out, doesn't sit well against the hundreds of hours it would take someone to find all the other comps on here without the benefit of this forum.

On the other hand, however, this is a public (not closed) board, so we have to accept there are some people who will just enter the comps that other people have posted. Some of these 'lurkers' ruin the smaller comps by mass mailing the comps with hundreds of entries (if you're a newbie, please don't think I'm having a go), so the people who post the comps have to accept that its not always a 2 way street.

Personally, although I've won a couple of very nice prizes on here, one of the best things about this forum is the camaradrie. People are really supportive here. For instance I've been off line for 2 days and been catching up with all the posts and I'd like to say thanks to Kipper, Strepsy, Furndire, Hjb123 and everyone else for spotting the duplicate comp posts. I could easily have entered 30 comps a 2nd time without people searching if a comp has been posted before. Its that kind of helpfulness that you just don't get on other sites in my experience.

I also get a real kick out of seeing people win in the IwonIwon!won forum especially if its one I've posted.

So at the end of the day, if James_N wants to ride on the back of other people's efforts, that's his choice. There's quite a few who do, just be honest about why.

So, as I haven't "ridden on the back of" anyone else's effort on this one, I take it that's OK?

If you've not entered any other comps by way of this site, I humbly apologise. If you have, then I stick by what I've said.

Off here, and thanked the original poster for it ages ago.

    GOOD LUCK!!

The prizes are notified by email after 19th.

For people still wondering about this - and remember for anyone who contibutes there must be several more who just READ this open forum without contributing at all anywhere - can I say that you should go back over every clue for every stage and re-read EVERYTHING. Some bits of the watchmans notebook and the "emails" fit to the "problem in hand" - like the location of Mozambique or the Odessa Stadium. Others do not appear to contribute at all to that problem. They read like random bits of text from the book. Mostly, they are not. I believe ALL the information on the whole site is there on purpose.

When it all clicks for you, I believe that all these references will fit in.

If anyone wants pointers to what to look for, IM me - I won't spoil it for others who don't wish to know or others not registered on the board.

Bear in mind - I can be totally convinced myself - and still wrong. I thought I had the Golden Hare book solution (remember that?) but got it wrong. So if you act on what I say - don't blame me afterwards!
