Oooh, good thread... mine are baked beans, they have to be Branston, gravy has to be Bisto, mayo has to be Hellman's or Heinz and Dr. Pepper (I tried ASDA's Dr. Thunder once, took two sips and it tasted like liquidised hotdogs:rotfl:, so the rest of the bottle got dumped right down the drain)

Oh, and coffee, while I have downgraded to ASDA's own filter coffee, I could never imagine downgrading to instant coffe, blech!

Oh Jeez, I maybe don't scrimp on a lot reading this.

I only use Clinique make-up as my skin is so sensitive its false economy buying others. I do literally cut the tubes etc open to get every last drop though.

Diet coke I live on the stuff.

My dogs get James Wellbeloved as it makes the house a nicer environment :rotfl:

Oh and I use tesco colour washing capsules as other washing powder makes me itch.

Loo paper I buy puppies on a roll its a vice I get from my parents as I can't bear cheap loo roll.

I try to be open to other things though
Can I ever learn this budgeting lark? So far it's not looking promising

  • Dental care, it's just not worth scrimping - your teeth have to last a lifetime so I really try to look after them. It's MSE really as it'll save money in the long run.
  • Brilliant thread!

Kenco coffee - hideously expensive but stock up when it's on offer. Have tried others but they just "don't do it"!

Lurpak was another - I've tried loads of others and they're just not the same, however, got one from L*dl last week and, so far, it's been fine (even in sandwiches/on my crumpets).

I can't believe I forgot to mention coke in my first post! :-o That's probably my no 1!

It's interesting that most of the brands people stick with are the ones they grew up with!

Have any of you found better tasting/performing brands when you've switched, compared to the ones that you grew up with?

A girl at work always tells us stories about her extreme moneysaving Dad. She says he's so tight he steals whole toilet rolls from work  and even then only uses 1/2 a square at a time!:rotfl:

Lol i do remember reading a thread on here on how to cut back spending and someone once said..

" when putting a new loo roll on squash it so it is more oval shape and that way when people roll it to bring some sheets off it wont roll off loads as it kinda thuds round" :rotfl:
