McDonalds and UKPC - apologies as I know it's probably been covered elsewhere...

I'm on my third letter from UKPC today....the "fine" is up to £125! I must admit I am losing my nerve a bit and wishing I'd paid it when it was £50 so it would just have gone away. Though that would be paying money to people who I think are acting immorally....!
Messages of reassurance welcome. Can anyone please tell me that it will be ok and they won't get hundreds out of me .... ?0 -
If I said your next post will cost you £50,would you pay it?
I've got as much authority as UKPC, so will you pay?Went shoplifting at the Disneystore today.
Got a huge Buzz out of it.0 -
Nope but they may come back and mop the sweat from your brow by offering the initial charge of £50, it is a new tactic, but think on, all they have done is click a computer mouse 4 times and printed letters.
However be warned if you do pay, as evidence proves they come back for more money in late payment charges, just like all scammers.
Stop worrying, they have no legal right to charge you this penalty and if they did carry out the threat to take you to court the judge will remind them of the Law with regard to unlawful penalties in 30 seconds and throw the case out.
But learn ! this is how McDonalds treat paying customers by getting an agent to try and scam £125 from your wages.
SHAME ON YOU MCDONALDS !Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Thank you! I'm sure you're right..... ! Well, I hope you are.
Though it's probably one of the least shameful things that McDonalds do!0 -
Nothing will happen, please do not give in to scammers. I have faced down the scammers several times and I get a good laugh out of their silly meaningless threats. If they were going to take you to court they would have done so by now. The letters are designed to scare you but they have no legal legitimacy. Soon you will be telling your friends to ignore the scammers because you did so and lived to tell the tale.Still waiting for Parking Eye to send the court summons! Make my day!0

Thank you for all the encouragement! I am trying to keep strong!

it only consists of: '2 women not paying scam invoice' and 'BK not wanting to get involved'.
typical provincial half-informed journalism; identifying help sites such as this for the benefit of their readership is too much bother for them.
oh, and I see they're calling the scam invoice a 'fine' - which it most def. isn't.
continue to ignore.0 -

It's a common mistake to think that if you pay the initial £50 then the scammers will go away.
By paying you are telling them that you can be intimidated and they will only come back for more money.
You did the right thing by not paying and they will only realise that are not one of those who will be intimidated into paying up. They are experienced in threatening people and they get good at it. It's been known for PPC's to go as far as to apply for court action but then crumble when the 'defendant' sends the papers back saying they will defend. It's just another way of scaring you into paying up.0 -
