I can do all the overtime I like......they won't pay a bean though or offer you time off in lieu either unless you literally demand it....hence I generally get out at 5pm on the dot every night! Tight barstewards!

My company just pays standard rate all the time but I did go through a period of working my days off at other stores but I got burned out in the end even though the money was good
  • Salaried also.. 40hrs minimum a week.. you can be expected to do on-call any time with no extra pay (i once did 4 days where I had to check a server ever 3 hours, day or night). They can make you work weekends/whenever.

No annual/christmas bonus, guess why i've been writing up my CV lately

On the plus side, i did spend 10k on expenses last year, staying for 4 months in 5* hotels in Dublin. Would rather have been at home with my gf though.

Good for you! My contract with my employer is that I give them 37.5 hours a week and they give me a salary. If they want a single minute more, then I had better receive something for it. I would no more work overtime for free than I would claim more hours of overtime than I actually worked. Both would be one party stealing from the other!
    Hi, I'm Mich :o
I won a years supply of Comfort fabric softener in November 2013 - more than half remains...
    2015 survey proceeds £115.36
  • I did Xmas day (3 3/4 hours) and New Years day (7 1/2) at triple time, and have helped out through the year, we too are always understaffed. I'm not doing too much more now as it impact's on our housing benefit.

  • I just get straightfoward salary and that's it...doesn't matter how much extra time I do the pay stays the same. OH gets overtime every week though. TBh we don't even count it as overtime...it just seems like his normal hours. Would get a shock if he was ever restricted to just normal hours wages.

I do 'overtime' although it is called 'extra hours'. I'm salaried but there are extra hours pretty much every week if I want them but I don't get paid the same rate of pay as my salaried hours - slightly less infact but that's cos I'd be doing the work of a support worker and not as a manager (which is what I am). Confused?! Me too!
Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.
  • I do it as and when even workied xmas day if its offered i am there
    . debt free Oct 15th 2011....:T ...
  • My view on over time is take it if it is on offer, you really never know how long you will be in a job with an income.
