    Hi all

Looking forward to the London meet :) I don't want to put a dampner on things, but I had my rucksack stolen last night from a Weatherspoons pub in London. Staff and police say that as WSpoon pubs are so large they are often targeted. We'll have to all keep an eye out for each other!

Weatherspoons pubs do have handbag holders under the tables, but not big enough for rucksacks!!

Sad to hear that MushyPeas. There's some scumbags about, aren't there

A thought struck me and I wondered why laydees didn't do it. How about putting the handles of your bag through the leg of the chair you are sitting on (if you get a seat.:D ). Then there's no way anyone could take it without them taking you with them.

    :confused::confused::confused:

BargainRzl - I'm happy to go with whatever the majority goes for....but must admit I am biased towards the location nearer to Trafalgar Square (but then I don't have kids). It's an interesting area there, so for any tourists among us it'll be easy to do some sightseeing and fit in the meet as well.

I really, really hope nobody bows out because of the kids thing, that would be such a shame.

For anyone who is apprehensive about going into the pub alone, you are welcome to have my mobile phone number. I'll nip out and get you from somewhere neutral, eg the fountains in Trafalgar Square, or from Waterstones across the road.

I love the idea of a summer picnic in Hyde Park or similar.

I like this idea a lot. Any thoughts from anybody else?

By the way, I will post a comprehensive list of how to get there from any London terminal by either bus or tube :)

If you want a good London park, go to Regents Park on a Sunday. There is a bandstand, with a band playing, and deckchairs are about a quid for the whole day (As MSE'ers, maybe we could get a bulk discount)
I have done it the last couple of years, and it reminds you of what a great capital we have in London.

The attraction for me is that it was very easy to get to & within easy reach of the mainlien stations without having to deal with buses/tubes if you fancy a walk/know London. Personally I wouldn't want to get to the other side of London.

If we did make it adults only this time how about having a "all welcome" picnic in one of the London parks in the summer or something to make up for it?

That sounds like a good idea. Would love to meet everyone but would probably get lost in the "big city" have a good time.
  • Thought I'd put a picture of myself up as my Avatar so you all know who I am when we meet up.

Does anyone know what time we are meeting, I thought I read late afternoon so is that from 15:00?

    Thanks Guys

I can't make it if it is only 2 weeks away, but the 10th is 3 weeks yesterday... I hope!
My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead :D
