I can do mine to habitable in 3 days.. and my house is possibly 3 times the size of yours!
I suggest starting by flinging.. I love to fling.. nothing gives me greater pleasure than a pile of carp leaving the house!!
If you have had it 6 months unused you dont need it.. that was the iron gone!!!!! and the husband lol...LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Tell the household that this needs to change.
give it a week and if its the same only do your own washing and clean one plate, cup ect and hide them.
They will get the message or go on strike entirely! That mrs macchicken to you!0 -
oh hun your not alone, we all have times like it.
i rant and rave and my hubby is really good, lol. i have found the best solution is to start at the top and work down. i ahev a routine, and that is monday is a complete blitz , all beds changed and then every day it is just quick whip around.
i start with boys bedroom, then our room, then bathroom. then my dd room ( omg i never knew a 7 yr old could stash so much * important* stuff, lol) then once all is cleaned up stairs i hoover and wash floors( our room and bathroom) anything that is in the wrong room gets taken downstairs or put in right room.
in the process the kitchen becomes a state :rotfl: i don't know how by me tidying means i make more mess, lol.
then on way down i do the landing and stairs and hallway. then on the the porch. then dining room and toy room and then lounge and finally kitchen. anything which is hubbys which doesn't have a correct place goes in his den and i shut the door. i don't tidy in there. i hoover when it clean but thats it.
i manage to clean all 9 rooms plus the landing and stairs in a morning. but this is only becuase i've got myself into the routine of it.
i will strip the beds before we have breakie as it take 3 loads to do the 4 beds and and then as soon as they have dried on line i fold them , and i will iron them once kids in bed and hubby at football.
i find if i leave till next day then i just keep putting things off and it builds up as the next day i don't wanna do two lots, of then there is 3 lots. you get my drift.
althought saying that i am struggling with the standing to do the ironing at mo, as my baby due in 11 days and i have huge swallon legs which are very painful.
Rant away tho hun, and maybe stand next to your hubby with a black bag and say right lets sort this it bin day tomoz and just be ruthless.0 -
Hi Can someone tell me how i can get onto the old style ? please0

hey OP I've had a similar thread recently where it all got too much and I was like "good people of MSE, reccomend somewhere I can go to have a break from all this housework!" people reccomended some good tips and I've been more relaxed already!
I've made lists of things to do each today eg:
hoover downstairs,
put washing on
sort washing out
if you tackle jobs one at a tme its better than them being incomplete and having loads of things half done. I only have a small drainer so when I'm cooking I do the pots that are on the side so when they have dried we have finished dinner and then those can be washed. I do a mass iron once every few weeks, that way my husand has around 3 weeks supply of work shirts, I stick a film on one night and iron away! its not so much of a chore with no kids around and something I want to watch on.
I agree with pigpen, but rather than flinging (unless it is actually rubbish of course!) I go through things that we don't need and think can I sell this? if so I either gumtree ad or facebook ad it, otherwise sort out things to go to a charity shop and arrange a collection.
I'm very fond of tubs - tub for duplo, tub for animals etc, makes it easier to chuck everything back in and reduces the chance of things getting lost too.
I tend to do quick cleaning rather than a massive deep clean, quick once over the bathroom with cleaning wipes, I mop the shower clean, do the kitchen surfaces once I've done the pots.
I hope this helps you, I really really understand how you feel though as I get angry and upset over it too xxx0 -
I totally sympathise!! I usually find that flinging the lot into a black bag and leaving it out by the bin works!! Then when my 3 kids start asking where their shoes, coat, bag, phone, etc is I usually point them in it's direction and tell them to help themselves. It usually last for about a week though and then it's back to square 1!! My ex was the same as your hubby and when I sent his stuff/junk to his Mum's where he was staying, she made him get rid of nearly all of it!!0
