Interesting post for me. I am considering getting myself a tumble dryer (I'm thinking through the summer as they maybe cheaper!). I have a toddler and another on the way and I struggle to get my washing dry now.
I will continue to put out as much as possible when dry to save costs.
Can anyone tell me if there is a big difference between vented or condenser?
I think a condenser will be better practically wise (no pipe to put outside if I'm getting this right?!).

we had to have a big hole drilled for our vented one, guess it really depends on where you putting it and if thats possible. ive known people to put the hose out of a window when they using it too lol

You can get condenser kits from amazon. Hang on... http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0011DBCAW/ref=oss_product

    £7.90 with free p&p.

They don't stop all condensation - but reduce it by a fair old bit. My TD is close to the bathroom so I sit the condenser unit in there and the only place I see any condensation is a thin film on the shower tiles. None on the bathroom door or window. Or the loo's cold water tank either - which is where I'd expect to see it.

Drying outside is best but not suitable for everyone.

The problems with tumble dryers is the condensation they cause, especially on cold days. If you want a tumble dryer for the convenience of quick drying times then a condensing tumbler is best to help avoid any condensation problems.

I bought a condensing container once for a tumble dryer I had when I couldn't put the vent outside and I had terrible condensation. With a dryer vented to the outside you get no condensation.

LOL I did have to chuckle with the bit about peg injuries!

We have always hung washing up inside the house in winter or outside on the line in summer.
However we have always tumble dried dogs bedding, towels and underwear.
Hubby refused to let me hang the "smalls" on the line but since im not working now everything goes on the line or gets put on an airer.
Everything is always better after a cup of tea

I try to hang my washing out as much as I can as I like to see it blowing on the line and think it smells nicer but if it is wet then I am not going to have it hanging around the house so I use my tumble dryer.

I do try and plan when I am doing my washing but sometimes it starts of sunny and then before the washing is finished it rains or it rains for a few days so I just use the dryer.

I personally cannot stand to see wet washing hanging around indoors and do not have enough radiators to put the washing on. OH even hates things being on the radiators as he always says "what is it a chinese laundry here now?"

i have had a tumble dryer since I left home, my mam has had one for about 36 years as she got the first one when I was a baby to dry my nappies

I very rarely use it but have used it once this week to dry our bedding as it was absolutely pouring down, I managed to dry the clothes on an airer in the kitchen with the back door open as it wasnt cold

I wouldnt like to not have one as do use it now and again

We rent and don't have a tumble dryer. Therefore if the weather's bad I have to do that (the OH doesn't understand 'laundry' and is not to be trusted so I have to do it all).

OH also HATES things being on radiators and he tried the Chinese laundry line on me, until I told him to look me in the eye...
