i had somebody block my car in while i was shopping, i was the last car of a line of cars and mine was at the end just before double yellows and somebody parked on the double yellows right up to my back bumper so there was not enough room to get out, i just put my car in reverse and slowly pushed the other car far enough for me to get out. no damage to any car either. i have a rather large trolley jack now and i know how to put a car into neutral from outside so its easy to move a car if it blocks me in outside my house, can you imagine their faces if they came out and their car had moved with no signs of damage.

I wouldn't mind but she runs a business from one of the properties which draws customers who need to park on the street
I'm sure there's a council department that this can be mentioned to. It's highly unlikely that this business is licenced.

What are my legal rights regarding the issue of her blocking my car in on a public highway? Where can i find help or information?
(i am not causing any obstruction or restriction to her access btw)

Contact your local police and ask for advice or for them to get involved.

Where did your neighbour park when she got back last night?
It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun

Parking that close bumper to bumper is wilful obsruction of the highway.

Call the police, next time they do it to any vehicle, not necessarily yours.

If there's a dropped kerb, that's not true. The police ~should~ act if someone is parked across a dropped kerb, preventing access. My own experience is that they will act, but they are often (understandably) reluctant to do anything, and try and persuade you to do the work for them.

A few years back I had a dispute with a neighbour who, in "revenge" for me parking quite legally outside their house, deliberately parked their car across my driveway. The police did attend at my request, and the neighbour was asked to remove their vehicle. I was not asked to remove mine.

The police should only act in the event of a vehicle parked across a dropped curb if there is a vehicle on the off road property which is prevented from access to the highway by the parked car - NOT a vehicle on the highway which is prevented from access to the off road property. Or there is a special enforcement order (not the correct term to use) issued by the council which specifically covers that dropped curb, for example where a curb is dropped for pedestrians crossing the road, prams/wheelchairs and such.

Corrected that for you, it's not wilful until they have been asked by the police to move it.
  • Next time this happens simply take a £10 note and a picture of the offending vehicles down to your local street yoofs and politley ask them to asssist.

Cant keep boxing you in if they cant be moved. :D
