Can anyone suggest an alternative organisation to Samaritans Purse which runs a similar scheme? I'd love to do it, but object strongly to any organisation telling children that my gifts are 'gifts from Jesus' and trying to bribe them to convert this way!0

I have the same issues with Samaritan's Purse,
I found this website, they are a religious group but say they don't add any religious literature to the boxes - does anyone know more about them please?
one for the troops here and one for Romania here but have to be with a collector by 5th November
might be worth contacting your local Rotary Club or similar?... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

I'm doing the Link Romania appeal this year as it seems much more ethical than Samaritans Purse.
I've found a few things last minute that may help people trying to meet the 5th November deadline like me!
Tesco Value:
2 pack toothbrushes - 10p
2 pack soaps - 30p
Toothpaste - 17p
40 Plasters - 41p
Shower gel 300ml - 50p
So a little hygeine pack for a family of 4 is £1.43!
Crayons - 24p
Primark have 2 packs of gloves in lots of sizes for £1 so I bought loads and split them so each box has several sizes.
All the supermarkets now have halloween sweets on sale in bulk so I've made a few selection bags from those.
The Works has 99p packs of 100 chalks and plasticine.
The best website I've found for little toys is craftycrocodiles. I can't do a link so you'll have to google it!
I am now in a rush to get socks, sewing stuff, hair bands, flannels and brushes / combs from somewhere all for only £18 (I set myself £100 limit on 6 boxes). So if anyone sees any good deals please let me know!0
