I had a look at their website 'cos I fancy participating in their appeal but have the same problem - I wondered if you could post the shoebox to their warehouse as they do give an address including postcode for it? Obviously it'll cost a couple of quid to get it there though.0 -
Can you just ask shoe shop for boxes? If so who would be the most willing to give?0

Hi Westy, It's certainly not to late to start, you have until mid November to get them done. The two I know of are

www.samaritanspurse.co.uk Look at their Operation Christmas child area.

Have decided to go for the Romania one. Friends at work have really risen to my challenge and are doing so many boxes. Much more in the spirit of Christmas rather then cards
Thanks for the thread. (ps, yes shoe shops have been most helpful!)Now thanks to Tommix & Queen Bear, now Lady Westy of Woodpecker0 -

Ask any shoe shop. If they have them they will be willing give them to you. You need something like a ladies or mens size 6/7/8 shoe box.
Look at Asda too for cheap items. Tesco extra value writing pads, pencils, crayons. Tesco cheapest soap in packs of three. Split them up and put into small freezer/fridge bags do the same with toothbrush packs. Tesco face flannels are 20p each.
Boots - basics toothpaste/soap/roll on deodorant. All very cheap.
You get points too. If needing to spend more when making up a Boots order to get free delivery or extra points remember to add these on.
Remember no chocolate to be included, all toys to be new or nearly new. Sometimes it makes my blood boil that the Customs for these countries dictate to us what we send. I think they should be very grateful we care enough to particiapte in the scheme! The look on the children's faces though are worth the hassle.
Have fun making your box up and most of all have fun wrapping the shoeboxes....................grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr they are so time consuming especially the ones where the lid does not come off!0 -

I've been asking my local shoe shops for boxes because not only am I doing boxes myself but I am involving the young people at the youth centre that I work at. Unfortunately for me, but very happily for the charities, I cannot get my hands on any because apparently EVERYONE around here is getting involved this year, and the shops can't keep up with the demand!
Excellent news, but it does mean I am becoming extremely boring by hassling everyone I know for boxes. I don't have any because I am far too tight to buy my shoes from a proper shoe shop, so never get a fancy box with mine just a plastic toggle.0 -
