So this morning I received a letter from Debt Recovery Plus Limited (they have their own website including a section on Parking Charge Recovery) . Interesting letter.... anyone else come across these people before I wonder? Needless to say it will be filed along with the others.
Good. Yes DR+ are debt collectors. That means that they have absolutely no power whatsoever beyond those you and I possess to do anything other than ask you to pay up. They would most certainly have you believe that they have huge powers and, sometimes, actually believe that themselves. If however, they chose to jump up and down, stamp their feet, grind their teeth (if they have any left) and shout at the top of their voice thereby substantially increasing their blood pressure then who are we to stop them? After all, they are helping to keep the Royal Mail going.

Although they hint at "further action", "bailiffs" and "county court judgments" they can't actually do anything more than hint at them. Unless your creditor has formally notified you (under the terms of the Law of Property Act) that they have sold or assigned the debt to the debt collector then the debt collector is powerless - other than writing a few letters with scary red ink and block capitals they are completely toothless.

Being threatened by a debt collector holds all the fear of being mauled by a dead sheep (to coin a phrase).

I would be slightly worried about the flies though. ;)
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com

Interesting info thanks. Incidentally, got another one from them this morning. It's gone in the file with the others. I noticed that they said I should ignore what is said on forums and that they have successfully obtained ccj's against people and that there are examples on their website. What they fail to say is that these so called judgments are not specifically for parking, I suspect they are probably for unpaid utility bills.
Giving me a bit of a buzz this so yes watch out for the flies

I noticed that they said I should ignore what is said on forums SHOWS HOW MUCH THEY ARE FRIGHTENED BY THE SUCCESS OF THE SAID FORUMS [oops capslock] namely mse, cag and pepipooand

What they fail to say is that these so called judgments are not specifically for parking, I suspect they are probably for unpaid utility bills. Correct, they won't release any examples of PPC cases they have 'won' [I know because i ASKED THEM!!][/QUOTE]
