I had a nightmare too today with car insurance - renewal quoted was £317 - yet when I put details in on their site it came up as £212 - queried it and smug person on other end asked if there was something I wanted to "disclose" - what???? Anyway she wasnt budging so I did - cancelled renewal and went elsewhere :)

  • well my nsd went nips up. Needed petrol couldn't eek it out til Friday (booo) so full tank and £51 down but it was going to go in anyway I suppose, the bad bit is because the Sainsbury's points took me to over £5 on rewards I went in store. Bought coffee pods and coffee mate (not giving this up for nooooobody, although I have cut my coffee down) got a few other bits as the little one was with me so its £5.06 off my grocery amount. Or is it? Its not September yet haha. Do you all feel the need to justify everything when you are money saving? Its really at the forefront of my mind since I began this.

  • Got paid yesterday, after mandatory bills there was 343.74. Have took £10 out to go towards my car tax (post office don't do savings stamps no more but a budget card so going to take my id and get one of those Monday) Paid £29 off my isme bnpl. Leaves 304.74. However with sprog going back to school I knew this was going to take a battering, heads off to town this morning for shoes, socks, vests, pencil case and accoutrements, plus the normal 'treat' that is eating out on pay day. We had tapas at La Tasca, drinks and a pud so 24.20 off there (280.54) I managed to pick up £50 owing to me from a friend so apart from a fiver in Wilkos (275.54) all the school stuff was 'free' with 4.02 change yay.

I need some oil for the car but apart from that i think the rest is going on the credit card as extra. Have made 51.25 on Ebay, need to take postage and fee's off then will stick that on the cc too.

Nipped into Aldi to check out the fruit n veg, poor really as there was not much to choose from, prices good though, I got
    Strawberries .99
    Bananas .39
    C creams .27
    Rich tea .29
    Cucumber .39 (bargain!)
    Jam .84
So £3.17 off my grocery budget

Right i'm off to sort out the rest of my bits and bobs so I can clean out my Santander account and close it down.

Bless, thank you. Think I just had to get my head round to overpaying instead of treating us with whats left over each month :)
