T-MOBILE excluding Lyca from inclusive mins

This is BS. When calling mobiles numbers do you know what network each number belongs to? You don't know and are not supposed to. The only way to cover themselves is to list explicitly all excluded numbers - as they did actually.
They did list some excluded numbers, the code the OP posted was not in the list, although if someone does give me a mobile which does not look usual, I do ask which network it is on0 -
Also seems a bit stupid that they don't class it as a UK mobile and don't take it out of your allowance...but charge you the rate for a call to a UK mobile.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -

In fairness they can charge what they like and it depends on the interconnect agreement, Lyca mobile I always see advertised promoting international call rates, perhaps it is an offshore company or simply not classed in the same ofcom number allocation.0 -

Well, pricing has to be fair and transparent, and in line with EU pricing rules, advertising standards etc. I just do not understand how consumers are supposed to know which numbers are included and which are excluded, aside from remembering a simple rule about 01, 02, 03 and 07 numbers being allowed. I am sure we all have long lists of people in your phone books, but who has ever really checked which networks these all are and if any are Lyca? It's just not realistic and I would be angry if charged too.
Does anyone know if other networks such as O2 and Orange also charge for these, or is it just T-Mobile?
Would anyone from T-Mobile, Lyca or Ofcom like to answer this in an official capacity?0 -

Having a search around, the chargeable numbers are international access numbers, so people dialling those numbers are more than likely already aware that they are dialling that number to obtain low cost calls, it does not appear that these numbers are ever allocated to a mobile phone.0 -
I was also hit by this charge as my Mrs called her mate who was Lyca mobile. Called up tmobile and said sorry, etc and they removed the charge as it was my first time.0

It's not. A quick google shows Lyca is a virtual network using the O2 or Orange network (depending on service plan).LycaMobile is a virtual network that runs on the Orange network but the new LycaMobile Plus tariff is only on O2.
T-Mobile are just ripping their customers off with this.====0 -

Ah , I see and remember now, if it is a new number allocation, then on the network side the range has not been added to the database for inclusive calls, similar happened when networks like Mercury 121 and Orange were growing, new codes like 0958 or 0976 could not be dialled cross network0 -

If I understand rightly, the OP was charged for calling someone who was no the Lyca network, he wasn't using Lyca himself to make cheap international calls etc.
I have no idea of any of my friends or associates are on Lyca, am I supposed to find out before calling them? Crazy!0 -

See post #19, but I agree you should not have to be worried about which same country network the people you intend to call are on.0
