Brilliant first house, thanks Tawny.
Crikey, the house itself isn't particularly old. So it can barely have had anything done to it - ever. Such a shame that I can't twitter on about original features when it's a 1960s ex council house. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? They mean Pollite, but if they'd said "asbestos" most interested parties would likely run a mile.

that house is great, we have actually just bought something not too dissimilar with equally 'groovy carpets. very little had been done to that since the 70s including the original 50s central heating which had never been used in 60 years...0 -

Instead of waffling on about Coco, Debbie Fortune should have
paid more attention to her photography and avoided a picture of the shot double glazing (pic 7) in bedroom 2.
How the hell Coco's owner ogles the woman across the way through his telescope is anyone's guess! :rotfl:0 -

'swot happens when councils refuse to adopt roads and provide services
The history of Jaywick is fascinating.
It is part of the post war plotlands movement. Many Londoners self-built houses (really self built! no professionals) on plots of land in the countryside acquired cheaply with lax planning permission. The plotlands movement is well worth reading about for anybody with an interest in housing.
In the case of Jaywick, most homes are single skin brick, intended only as summer holiday homes. The place didn't even have mains sewage until comparatively recently.
Of course, rather than discuss the fascinating history of the place, and real reasons for such poor housing being used year-round, the Daily Fail choose to publish a "let's laugh at the poor people" article about the place.

The Daily Mail article piqued my interest but there's not that much info on Wikipedia really. I've been up all the roads in Jaywick on streetview many times. Fascinating place!"The only man who makes money from a gold rush is the one selling the shovels..."0
