My first move would be to check to see if the Land Registry knows about this property - in theory it should have been registered at Coventry:

The potential buyer might be being softened up for purchasing a dodgy title and an expensive insurance guarantee - 40+ years should be long enough to see off rival claimants even the Queen.

Possibly, but I'm thinking it is more that it was left as a "shrine" for many years given the faded/non faded parts on the wallpaper and that someone was probably looking after it and the family wanted to try and renovate it but gave up when they realised the cost and effort.Debt 30k in 2008.:eek::o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free
