    Great find, made me laugh.
Probably a NFN property (normal for Norfolk)

  • If you could move that somewhere near the sea on the South Coast, you might well get £500,000 for it.
Do you have the "normal" permitted development rights?

Probably not (covenants etc with it being a new development) but it was definitely the best we could get for our budget, and I'm not convinced we'll really need more space, or want to move any further up the ladder. It's a very strange market in the north east at the minute, and I think it will take a long time to normalise.

Gosh. According to EA been in the same family since 1927 and not been occupied since 1969...I wonder why it's been left for so long? Would be a great project for someone.

ETA, someone has been looking after the place of sorts, it's got double glazing and the garden looks like it's been looked after.

I've seen far, far worse admittedly. Decorated (expensively) by someone with no colour sense at all, not even a bit. And that master bathroom - arggghhhh - hideous tiles and all the statues and vases!

I wonder what the barn like building is in pics 13 and 21 - looks a bit derelict and out of place.

    Yep.

Looks like the family have been looking after it and trying to update/maintain it but either decided that it was not cost effective or they couldn't afford to look after it any longer.

They seem to have spent some money on having the windows replaced and new curtains in certain rooms, radiators and attempted to patch up the cracks in the bathroom and someone has been cutting the grass and maintaining the garden as the place doesn't look that run down considering it's been empty for over 40 years.

    Seems quite sad to me.

There is something very fishy going on here.
The house might indeed have been left empty, but furnished for 40+ years but even Miss Haversham would have had trouble keeping it unused for that time.
It looks like someone tried to make a start in renovating but gave up the challenge after the window replacement. Perhaps a mortgage provider did not like the security being offered?

My first move would be to check to see if the Land Registry knows about this property - in theory it should have been registered at Coventry:

    East Sussex
    Eastbourne
    1 Jan 1926
    Coventry

The potential buyer might be being softened up for purchasing a dodgy title and an expensive insurance guarantee - 40+ years should be long enough to see off rival claimants even the Queen.
