I doubt very much if anyone is ever going to live there full time. If you do the maths: a train season ticket from the suburbs will cost in the order of £2,200, or a longer commute from say Brighton will cost around £3,400.
By staying in London, you save a substantial amount in money and time. You could stay in a hotel, or rent a larger place, but that would be expensive too, at a minimum of around £400 a week.
The beauty of somewhere like this is that you get a permanent base, that you can store a few work clothes and get a night's sleep if you want it while earning big bucks in the city and, with 87 years left on the lease, you can almost guarantee that once it gets too oppressive for you to live in you will be able to sell up and get all your money back, or hopefully a sizeable profit.
And that is not even considering the fact that you would be eligible for a parking permit, which has an (admittedly dodgy) resale value in itself.

I understand your reasoning but if I am earning big bucks in the city, I wouldn't choose to live there! I mean, how could anyone have much quality of life (even if it is just for weekday living) in a broom cupboard (the description does say it was an old store room cupboard). I want to buy in London one day, but I am not too bothered about the post code, I just need as much space as possible.8k in 2015 Challenge ( #167)0 -

Brighton is a popular commuter town. It takes around 2 hours on the train to get into central London. Thereby extending your working day by 4 hours. And that is 4 hours in a packed train, sometimes next to people with questionable bathing habits. All so that you can save enough money to buy a nice house somewhere/live the lifestyle you want/whatever.
The average 1 bed flat in central London costs around £600 per week, and those aren't palaces. Or for less than 4 years rental they can buy this place. Live there for 4 years, sell up and then buy their dream home in the country with the money they've saved.
"Quality of Life" is measured by how you spend your time and most of it wouldn't be spent in a flat like this. It isn't a refuge, it is a place to sleep and wash. I think most people interested in buying it would think of it as a hotel room that they will get their money back at the end of their stay. It has a cooker but it probably wouldn't be used much as they'd dine out and live the "metro" lifestyle, then travel back for the weekends. Lots of people, especially city traders, do this. It is a means to an end, not an end itself.Come on people, it's not difficult: lose means to be unable to find, loose means not being fixed in place. So if you have a hole in your pocket you might lose your loose change.0 -
Pics 2 and 3 - have they used gloss paint on the ceiling and walls? It's far shinier than even silk emulsion.
Funny layout too. If they had put the bathroom where the kitchen is, then you could open the front door straight into the kitchen, walk through to the lounge and have a separate bedroom with ensuite bathroom. They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0 -

A HUNKY estate agent has found an eye-catching way to attract house buyers - he's stripped off for saucy online ads.
In the bizarre YouTube video, Kieren Gray prances about a property on the outskirts of Brisbane, showing off his muscles in a pair of tiny Speedos.
Introducing the 3-bedroom townhouse, the Aussie agent tells viewers: "This property’s so hot, you’ve gotta take your gear off before you get inside."Trunks ... sporting just a pair of Speedos he introduces the 3-bed townhouse
He then takes househunters through a tour of the rooms, starting in the kitchen - where he says: "Phwoar. So hot. This won’t be on the market for long."
As he works his way through the plush pad Kieren's joined by a bikini-clad beauty reclining on a living room sofa, who fans herself as she tells him "It's so hot in here".
