Just exactly how does one go about buying a house boat?

You look at a houseboat and you think hey, great value! However, it is all a big problem. You are comparing it with a house, where you own both the bricks and mortar and the land it sits on. With a houseboat, you just own the boat. The value is at least partially in the mooring rights, and although I say rights, you usually do not have any rights. You pay an annual rental to be allowed to tie the boat up, and you generally can be moved on with little notice.

So, it is much more akin to buying a mobile home than buying a house. That is reflected in the price, and it is probably also reflected in the fact that it is going to be almost impossible to get a mortgage. Even if you can get a mortgage, it is likely to be based just on the value of the boat.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

If you could paint your house, what colour would you choose? A nice bright red or maybe a subtle pale blue? This one is an interesting shade of green... :undecided

That's truly amazing - it would be £5-10m if you put it in Hampstead. That ceiling is a work of art - pic 3. Wish I lived in the Land of Sunder, as I'd buy it like a shot!

Yeah the ceiling is wonderful, there are quite a lot of houses like that in Sunderland, who says its grim up north lol!

Look, next time you paint it, you will end up with the colour of your dreams. Concentrate instead on a 100' garden, and a summer house at the far end with electricity and lighting. So, your OH can be happy as Larry but only 30m away. Looking at pic 5, there's well-worn path to the end of the garden. :D

I wondered what the foil was doing in the bedroom but it looks like they've used it instead of curtains and ripped it down very quickly!

This is for sale on my street, what do you think?

I used to live in Splott.

Did you ever see the 'houses' on Kames Place? They were described as 1 bedroom with a garage/study. Turns out that the garage is actually the bedroom!
