A substantial farm-house in good repair, with excellent outbuildings , and garden and orchard attached — the property of Robert Cutlar Ferguson Esqr of Craigdarroch and in the occupation of James Goldie .
Built on an elevated knowe finel [finely] sheltered by [art] from the north & west winds and Commanding a pleasant though limited view of the valley of Craigdarroch, the choice of Knockauchlie as a situation seems to have been directed by good taste while much pains have been bestowed on improving its natural advantages of position.
Oh sorry, that was in c. 1850
It now appears to have some wall missing from the right-hand side, but what can one expect for a 3 bed detached at starting price £5000?

A beautiful house in a village I pass through is up for sale after 60 years in same family. Its on the outskirts of the village in a lovely rural quiet setting.

Unsurprisingly the Estate agents blurb doesn't mention the recently passed planning permission for five large detached houses to be built behind the houses opposite!0 -

I wouldn't think that will make a big difference, once they're built. It's much nicer than the house one of my distant relatives has just purchased for a similar amount, and no listing either.
I'm surprised the horsey folk across the way have done all that work, then sold the land, but the plots for 5 posh houses would fetch a fair wedge.0 -
Crime is now so low in parts of my homeland that front doors are now considered unnecessary.
