We used to have individuality and colour years ago-and we loved it!

The house I live in now had plain white painted walls. I'd come to hate wallpaper as I found it hard work to strip and repaper. When I moved in I had the house redecorated throughout but just in an off white shade. Some may think it boring but I liked the sense of light and space, in contrast to the bold but dark colour schemes of yesteryear. Of course, now I don't like the fact that every mark shows(!) but it's easy to clean or touch up.

Anyway, it's my house and my garden so I've done just what I want.

I remember the house you chose Contessa. Nice house - certainly the best imo of the ones you were considering. Glad you've got it sorted now as you wanted:)

You should have seen some of the decor that my parents painted over! Lime green and postbox red in one room, sexy pink in the lounge, bright blue in the hall - the wall opposite was white with black flockings (sp). Chocolate brown in the bedroom. Kept the wallpaper in the hall and painted an off white. Rest of the house was painted in my favourite - Natural Hessian or Calico or Almost Oyster (Dulux) and looks a million times better.

They are if you are trying to sell a house. It makes the house look as if you don't care and want to live in it as cheaply as possible and it makes buyers ask themselves what else have you done cheaply.

I am a landlord and all of our rented properties have light fittings. Not lampshades but light fittings installed by an electrician. I think if you look at photos of show homes they tend to have light fittings in the main rooms rather than just lampshades.

When I was selling my flat with my ex, I changed some of the light fittings or shades as I liked them and bought some cheap ones from both B&Q and Wilko for £3 max for a shade and £15 for a fitting. Sold it to a BTL man and it was advertised on RM 15-18 months for renting - the same shades and fittings are still there. I moved out in Aug 2017 and was completed in the Jan!

    Ooh....not for me. No neighbours = lovely:j.

But the isolation - way away from everyone else too:(. Add being far too near cliffs for my liking:(

Must be a case of "one mans meat....another mans poison" here I guess:rotfl:

Cheryl's home has been put on the block. Not that it looks like anyone has ever lived there!
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
