What probably happened was that the vendor took the bucket away. Leaving it there would imply they knew about it.moneyistooshorttomention wrote: »:rotfl:But I reckon my house trumps that - with the vendor having saved himself precisely £50 on a roof repair that needed doing.
Roof leaks like that are common, but it often it takes more than £50 to isolate and repair them, due to water's propensity to travel sideways. We had one here for years with no obvious source, but at least our vendor left the bucket and the plastic table it sat on, so there was no need for urgency in repairing it.0 -
All this makes me glad that the only surprising things we kept finding in our house were crucifixes and 'Stealth Jesus/Mary' pictures behind cupboard doors, left by Italian former owner!0

It hadnt got as far as "drips literally coming through the ceiling". At the time I viewed the house it was a "a bit of a stain in the ceiling and I guess that must be old and dealt with". Duh!:(:o - which translated into meaning = I could see the vendor was a Right One:mad: at the outset - but hadn't realised just how bad vendors could be (despite my experiences with the vendor of Starter House:o). Yep...some of us do take a long time to learn the full extent of what Other People Get Up To (sometimes):o:mad::mad:.
Mine was urgent - as I could see that stain in ceiling literally getting bigger by the week. I was measuring it - in sheer disbelief/horror. My guesstimate was that that ceiling in that room was going to start breaking up in a matter of literally weeks if I hadnt dealt with the vendors repair for them...
Mygawd - but it was totally horrific first winter here. Between the fact of just how many bodges previous owner of house had done/lied about one way or another and the worse weather and it feels like "Different Country" (despite being same country). I would not want to go through Winter No. 1 again - as I just about survived it in one piece and managed to "come up fighting". Cue for "Go me - I'm stronger than I thought I was" and I must admit I do wonder whether OP realises that sometimes it may feel like a different country - even within the same country.0 -
I think the not very well hidden vacuum in the shower is mildly funny. I guess it is a buy to let.

That's quite a nice little flat.
But my thoughts are "What a shame. That kitchen looks nice and pretty much in accordance with my/many peoples tastes. But then they go and spoil it by having that odd sort of cut-out bit in the base units to the left of the sink". That leaves me wondering whether it would be possible to just get a couple of new doors and a carousel to put in the corner unit and fit them faultlessly okay - otherwise I'd have visions of having to rip out a whole pretty new kitchen just because of that. All the more so - because the kitchen can be seen clearly from reception room space.
That's the sort of thing that would niggle at me - until I just had to put it right and hope it could be done cheaply/easily.0 -
Not really. There's a service duct there.moneyistooshorttomention wrote: »

Meanwhile, here's a house that dare not show it's face:

Not just the bathroom "hiding its face" there - apart from a glimpse of en suite loo. The kitchen is also "hiding its face". That is odd - not to be able to see what the kitchen is like. I'm guessing at a reasonable room - complete with a Rayburn - but badly needing a new kitchen in it....(probably not even got many units to speak of in the first place level).0 -

The woodgrain in the top lefthand corner cupboard? going the opposite way to the rest of the cupboards would get me too.0 -
I hadnt noticed that - re that woodgrain. Fair point.
Saw what Dave means as well by "service duct". Hmm.....and it looks like this is one of those kitchens that needs some rather "clever" designing all round I suppose then - in order to look normal basically.
It would help if most of us had kitchens big enough that they didn't "have" to be "fitted".0
