It's a utility room with toilet; quite common on the continent, I believe.

I agree many might think it inappropriate for there to be a microwave in there too, but who knows, it might be exclusively for defrosting dog food, cooking fish for the cat, or something like that.

After all, I have a microwave exclusively for sterilising soil and compost! :D

We bought a house like that once, I mean the upstairs had a bathroom/utility room. We eventually noticed other signs that whoever did the wiring of the house may have lacked the genes that cause fear.

I'm surprised there weren't more upstairs utility rooms, as its more ergonomic.

Indeed this is back onto my hobby horse of upstairs washing machines *where you take your clothes off and not in the food preparation area*.

Mainland europe seems to have cottoned onto this but I don't think I've ever been in a UK house with a utility room/washing room upstairs.

The house we're interested in has a cupboard in the bathroom which would be perfect for this, but I'm not sure I can convince OH. At the moment there's a seperate laundry room downstairs.

Imho that's fine if you're going to dry the washing in a tumble dryer - never had one personally, used to have a washer dryer but the dryer never worked properly - but if like me you hang your washing outside to dry I wouldn't want to be carting heavy baskets of damp laundry downstairs to the washing line in the garden :p

We've had 'loo-tility' rooms at two of our last four houses. Each time it was our own idea/installation and it worked well for our lifestyle, although admittedly our toilet requirements weren't compromised as a result because we had four loos in both houses which I appreciate not everyone would need/have space for ;)

There's a full loo roll in that bathroom! Surely there can't be someone actually using that loo:eek:

I suspect it is, given that there seems to be a 'clean' (I use that term loosely) patch on the basin below the cold tap......

A bit less ergonomic in our bungalow, though. :)

Do you think the upstairs of an average new house could take the thrashing a Miele with an unbalanced load might give it?

    I have doubts!

Check out the kitchen/diner...delusions of grandeur! (Not that the rest is any more modest....)

  • Saw this renovated property go up for sale near me recently. Looks lovely but :rotfl: at the asking price.

For comparison here are the original details from last April.

They think they've added £300k to the property in under 18 months and gone way over the ceiling price for the estate. Think they're in for a long wait for a buyer.

I'm not sure I'd describe something that bland as lovely.

Oh dear! Laminate flooring apart, it's been done well enough, but I think they've fallen in love with it and expect others to as well. Not pro developers.

Sadly, the house never had the right size of plot to start with, and half of what's there is shaded by the church centre's trees till mid-day, but that hardly matters as there's so much else to put off people with £600k to spend.

I hope they enjoyed doing it!
