I suspect what they've done is extended the hall out a bit into what was originally the porch - on street view you can see a couple of other houses where it is still a porch. The letterbox is just a draught proofing cover for the inside, I think?0 -
I quite liked the hallway/door.
The ladder in the second bedroom is rather unusual :undecided0 -
Typical of upvc and composite doors to have a handle on the inside and it's just a draught cover on the back of the letterbox. What's strange about that?0

It looks like the outside is on the inside? Why would you have that letter box and door handle inside?beanandbean wrote: »Something about that front door bugs me. It looks very odd from the inside..
I have the same uPVC door although without the added glass frame. Same handle and letterbox flap on the outside and inside. I don't understand what is odd about it?0 -

I think it's because I've never seen a thick framed upvc door surrounded by such open glass. Usually wood door with more glass, or upvc with two panels of privacy glass.
Looks very dark because of that.0 -

That wouldn't look weird IMO, as there wouldn't be the weird frame.of light surrounding the door itself.0 -

I do feel sorry for them - but thought a combination of that aerial photo and being in England means I would have looked at that and thought "Developers are likely to do a pincer movement on that house during my lifetime" and not bought it. Admitted I have the experience of seeing my parents' house on rural outskirts of a town having had some development going on near it since they bought it - so know to watch out for things like that...0 -

Reminds me of one near me - that isn't for sale.
I didn't believe someone could possibly be living there - until I saw signs of life and realised they are.
Almost feels like there should be a "NO - Really!" thread for houses in that state - but someone is still living in them and they aren't for sale. I walk past one of them virtually daily.... I guess the one blessing is (judging by the 2 I knew of in my previous area) that, looking at the owner it was possible to see that it wouldn't be forever before the house was for sale.0
