OMG this look so shed like, think I'm in a funny mood tonight.

    Here is a lovely 1 bedroom villa:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Ooh, I've always wanted a villa but that isn't what I pictured.:rotfl:

Can't want to hear what LL has to say on the subject!!!!;)

    Are you sure??? :D

This is all over the place. I'm not as beautifully focussed as gallygirl :)

On AGAs? Loved my gas one in the castle (when gas was cheap & Scotland was always cold). Hated the previous coal eating one, esp. when even gentle riddling dropped the fire bed (again!)

Old furniture? Every time, if bought for next to nothing, & the kitchen table is strong enough to support two people :A

Old houses? I agree with Davesnave.
We have had our 'almost all in one big room' bungalow ready on paper for years. It's really only a larger version of the shack we have now in Portugal.

I want to be warm all year & IMHO there is a compromise way around this - You just change countries twice a year.
Choose the right ones, initially rent (or use a camper if within Europe) & life becomes cheap at last.
So in theory retirement can be brought forward.
I quit early anyway, & found out later that the nest egg wasn't being depleted, but that's just me; both feet in with a, sort of, contingency 'plan'.

Even the UK then has its uses: as an airport hub; & tourist zone, gives one a whole new, council tax free, perspective on the dear place :j

Next step: I need to consult the Magratheans. Anyone have their email?

Or this thing here which has loads of character but a mere 37 acre garden

Honestly, what am I doing here? Shouldnt I be running a B&B in France and making Calvados or something?
There will be at least a few "tree huggers" who would rather tend to disagree with that EA's idea of idyllic French countryside living ..."This property is ideally suited for nature lovers and offers good hunting and fishing."
By all means make your Calvados but, assuming you don't have American ancestry, try not to blow away anything that moves just because it's in the countryside! (Unless they are SNP or Plaid Cymru of course!) Ducks for cover

I'm only a dated biologist. Trillion was the astro-fississist; & that's not what you had typed earlier, which means that:
This thread's doubt & uncertainty have lost their rigidity :(

    Shhh don't tell him.

To be honest I'd love to know. Seems like a great place superficially.

Nothing wrong with a bit of hunting - rabbits and pidgeons are a valuable source of dinner! And I'd rather eat a free-range bunny than battery hen....

I'll just speak very loudly and slowly so they can understand me.
