Just been browsing quite a few places in Birmingham, and have a bucket in the bath seems to be the norm.

I've never put a bucket in my bath, and not sure why I would, just trying to think of reasons?
-hand washing (clothes) in the bucket in the bath?
-can't be for rinsing hair-a plastic jug would do, yeh?
-storage? Lack it storage anywhere else?
-on water meter, collect rain water in bucket & flush loo?
- diarrhoea (on loo) and vomiting (in bucket) at some time?
-soaking clothes before washing?
Please someone enlighten me, in case I need to find a bucket too?
It's to use the bath water to flush the loo(Although I thought water was cheaper in Brum than SW Water!)

You've got it!
I hope he has already moved as the Grenadian barrel programme has been discontinued. I don't know of any other island doing it.

I know a lad (very pale skinned, very fair hair) who mentioned to his London workmates that his Mum had come from the Black Country, only for one girl to say "Really? I didn't know you were mixed race!"
In the late sixties my OH, a telephone apprentice, was maintaining a switchboard in Tipton. With about ten girls on the phones he thought he was in, but he couldn't understand half of what they were saying. He only lived eight miles away:(
He says it was even worse at a factory in James Bridge shortly after, & was relieved to back into the city where people spoke clearly(!) & in a dialect he was familiar with.
Me thinks the Black Country of Arnold Bennett may be long gone0 -

Check some of the comments from Daily Fail readers. This house has been in the news since January 2014.

Looks like the old gentleman had little money and spent most of his days sitting at that table. Very sad lonely existence. I hope I never end up in a position like that.0 -

I know exactly what you mean, I actually feel really sad when I see a perfect, and well looked after 1970's interior style house on here, which looks like nobody lives there now, and the EA states "well maintained, but need upgrading".
You just know the occupant has either passed away or gone into a home, after spending 30+ years caring for their little palace.
The along come the relatives, auction/skip the contents and get the place on the market.
My parents house is exactly as I have described, decoration, kitchen & bathroom ...1970's.
But the building is maintained to an inch of it's life, such as my OH having to crawl over the roof getting the moss off!!!:j0
