The thing is, a lot of modern places don't have much space for books and when you are selling you know that space sells. So instead of leaving your groaning bookshelves and teetering book piles in view you box them up and hide them from the camera.

My house that I've just sold had the bottom half of the lounge given over to books. Without fail, every viewer commented: "blimey, look at all those books!"

And that was after sending a third of my collection to charity to declutter. Took me ages to find another house with enough space to accommodate them.0 -
