We finally agreed on Monday 22nd Augustwith the actual completion being slated for first thing in the morning. Now I've got fun and games trying to move my daughters into a new school 3 counties away. Both counties admissions departments disavowing responsability and passing the buck backwards and forwards. I'm not sure which way to turn - to top it off, the only bloke who seems to have a brain in Oxford Admissions in on holiday until the 15th....urgh!
Mind you, I guess it is the summer holiday season. They may have lots of staff away.
Unless there's a problem with your daughters being "signed off" from their old school I'd concentrate my efforts on the new authority.
But, hey, if you've coped with estate agents and solicitors over the last few months then this should be a breeze!0 -
Surprisingly, I've got nothing but praise for the Estate Agent. He's been helpful, attentive and on the ball at all times. I was surprised because I like most people believed the jokes about EAs, but I must have had the only honest one in the country because as far as I know, he's never lied to me and has been unfailingly helpful. I'm tempted to ask if this is normal, or is it he's just from a small agency in a miniature village?
With regard to the Admissions authority, they couldn't find their !!!!!! with both hands and a flash light. It took 2 hours on the phone this morning to get to the correct department and then I had to go away and just fill out a form buried on page 76 of the Northants gov website, twice....I hate local government!
I've also no illusions that completion will actually take place first thing Monday morning, but since there is no chain and my solicitor assures me that he will have drawn down on the mortgage Friday night, I don't see why it couldn't be possible. We shall see.Debt Free! Long road, but we did it
