Milk in a bag

Just after a few opinions with the new milk in a bag.

I was looking at them in Tesco last night and they cost 86p for a 2 pint bag (£2 for the special jug) whereas a 4pt plastic bottle cost £1.49.

As far as I could see it was being promoted more as a green product rather than saving money, however we do waste a little bit of milk from a 4pt with it going off does this special jug keep milk fresher for longer?

Thanks
Liane

I've been buying bagged milk for over a year as it is cheaper than the plastic bottle when not on offer. I don't know about it going off as mine is always used long before this happens but you will save money in the long run.

Sainsburys have an offer where you buy 2 x 2 pints bags for £1 and you get the free Jug-it.
Great deal for £1, you get 4 pints and the jug.
Ends early next week though, so hurry.

I bought the jug, good intentions, our local tesco and other supermarkets always have an empty shelf in the fridge where it should be!! so annoying.

I was wondering this... just got the buy 2 bags get free jug from Sainsbury's (twice over actually, 2 free jugs :-p) as it cost exactly the same as buying the same amount bottled. But I usually prefer to shop at Tesco too.

I dont want to be pedantic but this is not a new idea, I was delivering milk in a bag 35 years ago, at that time it came in both 1 & 2 pint bags and there was a holder available for each size, tupperware also produced holders for the bags and they were a great success for a while but the supermarkets refused to stock them due to handling problems so the market for the bags of milk quickly died.

Good to see a blast from the past hitting the shelves again :)

Was just going to post that torbrex. I mind we used to get them and had a nightmare trying to snip the corners off without spilling milk everywhere. I hated them !

Certainly with the 'jug it' ones at Sainsbury's there's no snipping off corners.
