I just phoned them. They ARE withdrawing the softer butter. The receptionist wouldn't be drawn on details, only to say the reasons would be explained in a letter sent out to all inquiries.
I'm guessing it's some medical guff.

I emailed them in a similar vein. And I cannot see a 'softer' or 'spreadable' or any other butter in a tub that is does not contain oil on their website.
And what the hell is honey spread - what is wrong with plain old honey????:mad::mad:Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
If you use google with site = kerrygold.co.uk and look for "softer butter", you can find the page, but if you click "About us" and "Products" it's not there anymore. Anyway, they've stopped selling it for certain.
I'm really, really pee'd off about this. The only people to sell 100% butter that is spreadable, and they are caving in, presumably to the fascists who want to control every aspect of our lives.
They could at least explain the softening technique for people at home. What is it, added water, do you think?0 -
Whats wrong with olive oil,0

There's nothing wrong with olive oil, I just don't want it in my butter.
Bwims - I think I remember reading that it was naturally softer because of the diet of the cows - that may have been a lot of old hogwash, as I guess they are still milking the same cows for this stuff as ther were before.Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -

Newsflash: There is an alternative, which I bought whilst holidaying in Devon - I had forgotten until my wife reminded me.
Loseley Summer Meadow, naturally soft. They say it is "churned using summer milk from specially selected herds giving a great tasting pure butter which is easier to spread."
At the loseley.com website, append /pages/loseley/Loseley+Summer+Meadow+Butter
I have written to them asking who stocks it in my area. The only google reference for a high street supermarket is Waitrose / Ocado.0 -
