I too am like Blinky - with Pipex. Have been with them for nearly 2 years and not once had to phone/email customer/technical support.
I'm on the 2mg package (£33.99), with unlimited download (apart from Newsgroups) and can highly recommend them.0 -
Oh dear well I am just about to leave BT BECAUSE of their 2mgb upgrade. We were told we were getting an upgrade on our service. Our broadband is constantly connected and to be fair have never really had any probs logging on or being thrown out. We have lost our service 3 times ( once for 3 days ) due to their lines going down. At these times the customer service was rotten .
So we got our upgrade 2 weeks ago and thats when the problems really started. We had problems accessing the net, at peak times the service was a sixth of what it should be . Ran speed tests at the best we could get was 1500 .So we phoned and complained. They tried to fob us of saying you will never get 2mg anyway and that 600- 1500 was acceptable !.I asked why I was paying for 2mg when I was not getting it ? Bt said well its free ! Not for £29.99 a month when you are having difficulty accessing the net.
Keeped complaining because we were constantly being thrown out of our connection and pages were running much slower than before the upgrade.
After a week of complaining the engineers agreed to check our line and contact us in 2 days. 3 days later no one got back to us. So I phoned up to be told that our phone lines could not cope with 2mg and had been downgraded to 1mg. No one had even bothered to tell us ! I asked what the differance in price would be - they said their isnt one I have to still pay £29.99 for 1 mg when eveyone else is paying the same for 2! .So fortunately have been with them long enough to cancel but if I had just taken out a new contract where would I have been then ?0 -
I try to avoid BT. Use Plusnet at 1Mb, I know not for big users. I only use between 1 & 2 Gb/month, at £16.49/month, OK for me. Apparently going to be 8Mb speed in April for same price. Was with Tiscali, no comment!!The moving finger, having writ, moved on.0
