Good point, well phrased.
But it doesn't tell you how many times a particular set of 6 numbers would have won - which was the original purpose of my spreadsheet.

I think that they press the button at slightly different times and sometimes the person pressing the button wears red scoks.

I didn't quote that part of your post though, I deleted it for a reason! :rolleyes:0 -
The chances of getting the six numbers is the same for everybody, whatever numbers you chose.
However I understand that GG's theory that higher numbers are likely to win more money is absolutely correct. One or two of the reasons why have already been noted but there are several others. For example, most streets have a number 1, 2, 3 but not all have number 47, 48, 49. So more people will chose lower numbers, fewer people will chose higher numbers. So if you win big with higher numbers, you will have fewer people to share the money with.
There are also one or two other ways to reduce the likelihood of sharing, but you can't increase the likelihood of winning.
Having said that, I buy a few tickets every week and have never had more than 4 numbers. So perhaps my time spent getting O-level statistics was wasted.0 -
Doh, sorry. I discussed the bit not for discussion and didn't answer the question!

That's a good return you lucky devil.
I entered the Dream Number once and won £2. 100% up, I quit playing Dream Number.

That's just a guess off the top of my head really George. I probably just feel good because I've had a four number win recently.
I suspect that over the course of a year I'm a statistical average winner. A tenner win every 48 entries, or whatever it is.
BTW, it would be reasonably easy to test the "high number = bigger win" theory. Just go through the old results, look for big number draws and see how many shared the jackpot.0 -

It's not really my theory, just one that is easy to agree with.
I may do a quick analysis of the average number drawn vs number of jackpot winners.
There was over 100 jackpot winners one week. Must have been disappointing having to return to work!
