Daughter lost job and phone contract to pay

sorry your daughters lost her job ... by all means try to get some sort of arrangement with the phone company but as some say its a shame to ruin her credit score at this young age over a phone .
another angle to try , its only a phone and it,ll be done +dusted when the contact comes to an end, 2 yrs tops lesson learnt + no damage done. meanwhile get a pay as you go cheapie at tescos and just dont use it in front of her mates if its not top notch like theirs .[kids can be so cruel]
some people of her age have a mortgage and have lost their job ...they may lose their home so it could be a lot worse ...
trouble is everything is easy to get on credit these days
just a signature ,cursary check and there you go..... in debt right away
glad lm not just starting out
good luck:EasterBun GRAB EVERY OPPERTUNITY YOU GET ..YOU DONT KNOW HOW LONG YOUR HERE FOR0 -
Hi, for all they know your daughter might get new employment within the next few days/weeks, why should they cancel a contract, that your daughter requested, on the basis that she 'might' be out of work for a long time.
To talk about cancelling immediately after losing her job is a total over reaction to what might be a temporary issue.
As others have said, if it turns out to be a long term issue, sell the phone and use the proceeds towards paying off the contract.
Sorry to be brutal but if they agreed to cancel every contract with such a request we would all have to pay more to cover the loss.0 -
Ok, daughter has a vodafone contract which is £35 per month and 18 month contract, maybe had this for 2 or 3 months. Now lost job and cannot pay the contract, she is 19.
do you think vodafone will come to an arrangement to stop contract and give phone back rather than going down the legal route of getting money from her.
Hi silkyuk9,
Thanks for making us aware of your daughters change of circumstances here.
Whilst we wouldn't be able to cancel the account at this time we would be happy to assist your daughter with trying to manage this situation until she's back in employment.
As such, could you ask her to email us via the contact details in our profile page here and mark the email for my attention?
Once she's in touch with us we'll do our best to help her as much as possible.
Kind regards,
Lee
