Bank of America still managed to lose 8% in the day.
Weakness is in the banking sector. As is the case in the UK.0 -

Interesting. The ADRs (US traded line) yields 5.2% whereas the London listed B shares only yield 4.4%.
A little of the difference can be explained by the DR sponsor taking a cut but the rest seems like a huge arbitrage opportunity to me. Anyone know why there is this discrepancy? I used to work in the back office converting shares to ADRs and back again to make money on the arb.0 -
You are mixing up types of investments with a tax wrapper. Its a bit like saying which is the better car, a BMW or petrol.

There is no difference between public and private debt now. All debt has become co-mingled.
Before it was only US banks, a few other investment banks and a fistful of retail banks that were insolvent. Now everyone is.
If the solvent take on the debts of the insolvent they become insolvent too. Send it on a postcard to Peston and your local MP.0 -
