last July. I went to court in a t-shirt and jeans. They really don't mind what you're wearing.

I'd look into a co op cashminder account as you get a visa debit card (I've got one), and you get internet banking. In my experience Barclays allow you a basic bank account but cancel internet banking privilages once you go br. Also, if your landlord only accepts rent payments via internet banking this is technically illegal - the landlord MUST accept whatever payment method works best for the tennant.

I don't see what being on benefits has to do with it. Surely if there is a surplus then the OR is entitled to issue an IPA? If not, then that is just wrong as it means someone on low income could have an IPA but someone on benefits does not!

Why is it wrong? this has always been the case, and has been discussed in depth many many times.

because the goverment sets a limit to what they say people can live on. for example £65 a week jsa.
so £260 every four weeks and you think they should pay an ipa out of this as well?
i dont know the lowest an or says people can manage on but would be interested to know if it was as low as that

Tickled pink claims 1742.49 a month in benefits (I stress I am not having a go at her, I am sure she needs it).
However, I know someone who is a single mum with 3 kids. Her parents look after them whilst she works 3 jobs and she brings home £1650 a month and she has an IPA of £30 per month.
Now she chooses to work but it just seems wrong that she gets an IPA and someone bringing in more than that doesn't.
I stress again that I am not having a go at Tickled Pink I just do not understand the system.

i also went in tshirt and jeans and never even saw the judge or the court room just handed it to a clerk through a window in reception type area signed a couple of things when he came back and that was that.
  • Thanks for all the help guys.

Sorry I didn't mean to cause a debate over benefits but trust me, If I was lucky enought to have reliable family members living close to me, that could look after my children whilst I went to work, I would be out of the door like a shot and would probably work 2-3 jobs just so I could pay my debt off.
