Ok so its been a while since I last post on here but gog bankrupt has never been far from my mind.
well my ex husband (still seperated but on very good speaking terms and one day we hope to try again) said it was ok to sell his car.
So yesterday I finally sold it and was very shocked that the guy came to collect it last night and gave me the £700 I had it up for sale for.
I have some funds already saved up from selling on ebay £300 but had to use £95 of that to go shopping so my ex hubby said I could have £320 from the sale of the car to go towards my bankruptcy fees. (the rest he wants as he wants to save for his bankruptcy)
So I'm about to give the court a call when they open and book my appointment, I know last time I spoke to them they said they usuall get people booked in within a few days - fingers crossed!!
So my questions are:
What do I wear to court? I have nothing formal and can't afford to buy anything just for one day. (I have linen trousers, maxi dresses, Jeans etc that kind of summer clothes)
Can anyone give me the link for my soa so I can post it on here for help to get it right.
I have recently (9th July) opened a new bank account with Barclays and I explained the the branch manager i was going to go bankrupt and he said that I could have online banking, which has been usefull esp as my rent is paid online as my landlords account is Intelligent finance and it can only be paid online.
Also now I have no car I will need to get my shopping delivered online which is more cheeper than getting a taxi with 4 kids would the official reciever allow me the extra £4.50 on top of my shopping budget for this? I usuall do a shop evey week.
I do have more questions but mainly want to get my soa up for some help.
Thanks in advance

Hi there,
To help with a couple of your questions:
1) I went for the smart casual look, trousers and a shirt. I was in court in front of the judge for about 5 - 10 minutes, he read the blurb at the end and said "So you'd like to be made bankrupt then?", I said yes, he signed it and that was it! I wouldn't go out and buy anything special.
2) If you've managed to get on-line banking with Barclays and they know you're about to go bankrupt, you've done better than me!! I'm with Barclays but the account they've got me on doesn't allow on-line banking and they won't allow me to change accounts now due to my status.
3) when you go through your weekly spends with the official receiver, just include that as part of your weekly shopping bill, they don't ask for an individual break down of what you buy every month
As for the SOA, sorry, I can't help with that, but having been a lurker on here for a while now, there are plenty of nice folk who should be able to help.
Good luck and hope it all goes well for you

Fill in all your income and expenses on to this form and remember to save it, you can then format it for posting onto the board here.0 -
Thank you for replying.
I was thinking of just wearing Black linen trousers and a top with a cardigan??? Hopefully it will be ok, I just don't have any spare funds to get anything new, but I'm sure the judge will understand.
I found the SOA link and have filled it in as best as I can can anyone have a look and tell me if its ok or too much?

hi...have you considered a Co-op Cashminder account?
You can apply for one over the phone....and it comes with full internet access........unlike Barclays.
[you may find that, once BR , Barclays may withdraw internet access.....]
Regarding the Court?
Well, simply dress tidily, I suppose...out of respect for the Institution....remember, you are using the Court for a Civil process...much like divorce....not a criminal process...so impressions are not relevant.
Should you actually get to see a Judge, remember they are also fully aware of your delicate frame of mind when petitioning for bankruptcy...so will [or should] approach you sympathetically....they will need to confirm you are actually insolvent...and have taken proper advice regarding the impact of bankruptcy, to ensure you are under no illusions as to your duties and responsibilities....No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -

I've probably missed something but someone else be be along to give their view too.
Don't worry about the clothes what you have mentioned sounds fine to me.0 -
This is the problem, you can basically fill in the rows as you want, because you are on benefits. This is because even if you have £300 spare the OR cannot touch it. A few allowances may have to be slightly adjusted but as long as stay on benefits none of it can be touched.0

Lala, and Kepar thanks for replying.
I do own a house in joint names but it was volunatry repossessed in April this year when my husband and I seperated. I'm currently in rented accomodation, hence the reason for no buildings insurance or council tax and I get that paid for me. I don't know how much is paid for this as its paid direct to the council for the year.
The children currently get free school meals, and don't do any after school activities. Again CCCS told me unless I could prove they did after school stuff then I couldn't add a figure to the other child related expenses. My oldest two are in school full time and my 3yr old goes to nursery 3 mornings a week with the free child places. My 2yr old just goes to the beach as we live so close.
Tv licence was taken out in my name when I moved in, for the first 6 months I have to pay £24.25 then in october is drops to £12. somthing.
I was told by CCCS and national debtline that the official reciever would take an IPA which is fine, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't over spending or putting down amounts that were too much, if that makes sense?0 -
Have just been on the phone to the court and now have my date of Monday 15th August. They did say i could have had the 8th of August but the letter I need to be expempt the fees is dated the 7th july which would mean I needed the 7th August, but another week of waiting isn't too bad, just means I have more time to fill in the forms properly, lets hope the new letter arrives in time.0

good luck for the 15th0
