I can't stand the smell of smoke and would never buy a smoker's house. I am seeing some good houses at good prices but wondering if they all belong to smokers.

    Seriously?

If you see a house and can't stand it then don't buy it!

What's next, blue carpet discount? Magnolia wall discount?

And so is the smell of smoke - it doesn't linger for ever, and most of it goes when you change the carpets and curtains.

Then just don't buy it! You make it sound like 10% off would make it ok to cut your life expectancy?
So when viewing houses if they stink of smoke then walk away and don't put an offer.

For a second I thought that this was an annuities thread and I was going to find out the fantastic secret that smokers are charged less for their homes!

Just as well I didn't pop out to Morrisons for 10 B&H - I can't stand smoking either (well, I don't mind the smell of a cigar) :rotfl:

or people that eat alot of garlicky food

see, a garlicky smell would probably make me want to buy a house more:

    1) I love garlic
    2) Less vampires
