Haha. Now I'm even more confused. Santander do have a good interest rate.0

While true, don't forget this is Santander we're talking about here. If the staff haven't a clue what facilities their accounts offer, it doesn't exactly give you a lot of confidence, does it?Santander - usted puede silbar para su dinero0 -
My son had a Bradford and Bingley kidzone account which was changed to the 11-15 account about a year ago. He was asked would he prefer a cash card or a Visa Debit card and chose the Visa one. He can use Visa card both on and offline.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140

The good interest rate is on the first £500 only ie £15 a year. the stress you're at risk of by banking with them is worth a lot more than that in my view.0

I work for Santander and can confirm that the 11-15 account can come with either a Cash Card or Online Visa Debit Card (this can be specified at opening as the Youth Plus can only be opened in branch).
It pays 5% on the first £500 as long as it recieves 1 credit of any amount per month. Interest is paid monthly.
pmduk, I can appreciate your distaste for Santander, but when people are asking questions it would be nice to stick to the facts.
I'm sorry you have had a bad experience but I can assure you if you were a customer of our branch you would be a very happy customer.0 -
Thanks for the information
So basically it can be used to spend on anything he wants?

You still have to deal with the phone banking and internet banking...
And which area of London would your branch be in? I travel around a bit and have tried about 20 Santander branches in W and NW London, and have had a bad experience in every one. Either it was staff telling me nonsense or generally being rude. One time they wanted to ask my DOB and address to deposit £10! (Yes, a tenner to prevent myself going overdrawn the next day for a DD)0 -
i must say. I've never had any issues with Santander. Always had good customer service. Even when some random payments appeared with my debit card. They refunded it and send me a new card straight away.0

More out of interest is there some sort of transaction spending limit? Like he can't make a purchase over £1000 etc.0
