Funny - I just had to ask someone to quote me for that job on the front of my Renault Clio today!

Only one side has gone, but it is best to replace both.

For wheel bearings, not really. The reasons you do it with brakes, shock absorbers and springs is to do with maintaining balance between both sides when cornering or braking. This doesn't matter at all with a wheelbearing as it has no effect as long as its not worn. You will also find that the passenger side ones fail earlier than the drivers side as they are subject to more shock impact from drains, the rough edges of the road, going up the kerb when parking etc.

Did the fronts on one of our Dafs last year - £8.75 total for the 4 bearings (including delivery) and about 20 minutes each side to do. One more MSE aspect of running old cars :D

£175! I'd be very pleased with that!

This morning I just had to pay £220 for one (rear left) wheel bearing and hub unit for a 03 reg Fiat Stilo JTD 3dr sports. Gutted. I ask myself all the time, why the h*ll did I buy this car :-(
So pricy to get parts for it as it's not longer in production! :-(
