Hi, this is the Daily Thread for xx (add date). This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all
Fingers crossed for your funding Molly.

Welcome to the newbies
Dropped hubby at the station with his packup, getting him there in the morning is ok as the road is open, collecting him at night is a whole 'nother matter as all the side roads are 'No Parking, No Waiting' The buses are meant to be running along the main road, but are being diverted & no idea where the bus stops have gone to. Yesterday I managed to park under a sign with 'Kerb crawling is an offence. You will be prosecuted' written on it, oh joy, lets hope I manage to park again tonight.
Plans for today depend on how hot it gets how quickly, lol. I'll probably do some ironing & might tidy the living room.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning Hester and all to follow.

:bdaycake:Happy Birthday to Pink, have a great day :j

Have been awake since before 5 don't know why on my day off, but never mind, I have got a wash nearly done, which I will get on the line, it rained here first thing, but its brightening up now.

Dinner tonight is cold roast pork left over from yesterday, with sonme mash and peas with pickle, nice and simple and tasty :D

DD has the dentist later on for a filling and clean, we went to the local town yesterday and handed out about 20 CV's hopefully something will come of it.

Need to hoover through today, and if its not too hot later spend some time in the garden.

    Have good days all xx

    Morning everyone

Overcast here this morning, hopefully the sun will get out later. DH up and off to work early but not stupid early o'clock. Dinner last night was smoked sausage pasta, yummy, it's a great after work dinner as reasonably quick and easy and delicious. Work was busy I had a difficult case that took me most of the morning to sort out but think customer concerned is now in a better position than when he came in yesterday - hope so anyway, the day I stop caring will be the day I have to stop doing this job! Tonight dinner will be another relatively easy dinner fish, chips and beans for DH and fish, jacket potato and veg for me. House very quiet as boys away again until tomorrow lunchtime when I collect them.

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

    Good Morning all and

:bdaycake::bdaycake::bdaycake:Happy Birthday to Pink May you get lots of treats and suprises today.
One more day less towards our holidays today. The boys are taking it in turns to cross them off from the calender we made on the fridge.Ben has all his fishing bits and bobs packed already to go :D.Mikey has a shoebox that he wants to put things in that he can't possibly do without (his treasure box he calls it and gurds it carefully against his siblings.Jack has decided to take his cricket bat as this year he is very much into cricket and sleeps with it across the bottom of his bunk bed.Henry can't make his mind up whether to take his football or not in case it gets lost .He would be devastated if he did as it normally is never more than a foot away from him most of the time.We all take things with us and mine is my kindle and camera which I would hate to be without:D
Today is a trip to the library with the boys as the books have to go back and new ones issued.our library is doing a little competition based this year on circus's so the boys are going to join in.They get small prizes if they can read at least 6 books during the holidays .Not a problem with them as they all like to read and we have always encouraged them to.Then it may be a trip to the park for an hour or so to run off some energy.I am taking a bag with some 'crafty bits with me today and my new craft book so Mikey can have a look through this afternoon if its too hot we may make some masks. One of the boys (Henry) is very blond and fair skinned so too much heat makes him very uncomfortable and ill so if its very warm I try to think of things to do out of the heat of the day.Tomorrow jack and Henry are going with their school young folks club on an adventure day out so I will only have ben and mikey to keep amused .I think we will go down to Whitstable and do some 'crabbing off the front as they both like messing around on the water.DD has the day off tomorrow and she too like Whitstable and its only about 20 minutes from where we live.
I hope everyone has a good day today and is enjoying the glorious weather ( even though its a bit too warm for me I still love to see the sun out)
    Cheers chyms

Clear blue skies and hot already, I put the sprinkler on at 6am because I forgot to do it lastnight. Packed up DH's lunch of ham/salad rolls and a piece of apple cake. It's a shame I can't help him smash the tiles off DD1's bathroom but the room is too small for both of us to work in. ;)
Vacuming, dusting and ironing on my exciting agenda today. I bought some linseed oil from our local discount store so hopefully I can start on the garden furniture if I can stand the heat, I'll pull the awning out and move the furniture so at least I'm in the shade. I meant to do it before we went to France to stay with friends, only got home on Thursday, but didn't have time.

I'll be having DGD tomorrow so DD can go for her check up with the midwife then have some time to herself. :j

I've been wondering where lots of regular posters are, Tiredmum, Happyroly, csarina, smokybabe, mioliere etc. Anyone know ?

Happy Birthday Pink:bdaycake: hope it's a good one

    Morning all!

    Happy birthday Pink!

OH is off to work, I'm just checking ebay before i go to work (i've given myself £100 of my rebate to spend on clothes, and ebay means i get more for my money!) I've won a top and am bidding on some skirts and lovely shoes, boots. Everything really.

I dropped the cheque off at the bank yesterday with a paying in slip. Will check later to see if it's been picked up.

There is something on the telly about how men are no longer confident with DIY - I am so glad my OH is a practical man and not afraid to get things wrong first.

I had the weirdest dream last night that i was pregnant....(i have been reading shopaholic and baby) but now i'm paranoid! My periods are really irregular - i've only had 2 so far this year....

Have put pups lunch in the freezer for him in the hope it will be him entertained for a good part of the morning trying to eat it.(obviously i will get it out before i leave, i don't expect him to get it out there too!) It's far too hot for him to go to work with OH, BIL is supposed to be checking on him later.

I think i am going to book a week off at the end of august, just for time off.

    Have a lovely day! x

anyway getting back into the swing of things today. got washing to do. glorious sunny day here so it should dry quickly on the line. got some bananas to turn into a banana loaf. need to do a general tidy around. not a lot really. hubby is still off work so he will help.

after that we're taking ds out. there is a park near his nursery that is having some sort of fete so may pop along and see what that is about.

  • Good morning,

Only three more days of work and then I have a weeks holidays! Really looking forward to a break. Panicked this morning and thought I had no MOT on the car because I forgot to put the sticker on. Looked it up and it doesn't expire until October! So I was just being silly. Do need to book it into garage for a service though - it is not easy to start at the moment.

So that will be todays task - ring the garage and book it in for my week off. And put the MOT date sticker on my car. Other than that, plan is - go to work and stay cheery, come home, laundry, tea, declutter, bath and bed!

Hope everyone has a fabulous day.

    Morning all

Boiling here, meant to get up earlier to walk the big dog. Took him out a 8pm last night and he was much happier. Managed yesterday to do loads of shredding, hoover upstairs and dry loads of washing, now have loads of ironing to do. Also got to sunbathe for a bit, it does make me feel better even though it's so bad for the skin.

Plan today to take the puppy back soon. Will do some ironing and clean when the dog has gone. Tea is something off the planner.

    PINK Happy Birthday
    GILLYBEAN welcome
LOU glad you're feeling a bit better.
MOLLY sending you positive thoughts for your op

Hugs to anyone who needs one today.

    Morning

I am very tired today so not planning on doing much at all.

Looks like rain again today :(

Need to get the kitchen in order again as it is a bit of a mess. I'm back at work tonight so just going to potter about till about 1 then go back to bed.

Dinner will be whatever is in the freezer, OH will make it for the kids while I am sleeping. I really need to de-frost the freezer so want to use everything up.

Need to sort out the kids uniforms that I bought yesterday. the shops were manic especially C*arks but at least it is done.

Hope everyone has a nice day.
