    Hi Frodo,

I'm really excited too! (I note the time of your post. I've been thinking about it all night too!) I know it's going to be really hard work, but soooooo worth it in the end.

I'm getting butterflies just thinking about being debt-free :o.

I know I've got an uphill battle of £6769  to tackle but I'm hoping to sell big items like a motorbike and garage door in the Summer Holidays to make a dent in it.

    Best of Luck

Hi Magpie, I'm impressed with your positive attitude and your aim to clear over £6000. As you say even if you don't manage to pay it all, you will have achieved far more, and paid off more than you would have done without this challange.

I was working all night last night, hence the time of the post. I had a fairly quite night last night so lots os MSEing!;)

I just wanted to say Good Luck to all, whatever your target may be.

I'm quite surprised how focused I've actually become as a result of this challenge and I wanted to share a few ways I'm going to attempt to reach my own target.

Firstly, I have allocated £400 for monthly food (household of 5, pets, payday takeaway) shopping which I will divide weekly. I have got my money jars (old coffee jars lol but very MSE - in a previous life I would have ran out and bought pretty ones :o) cleaned and ready.

Today, I'm going to take out the £400 cash and divide it into four weekly envelops, where I can only spend from the said envelop in that corrosponding week. Anything (hopefully lots) left over at the end of each week, if I'm careful, will be transfered in to the CC pot. Hopefully, at the end of the month I'll have an extra significant sum to whack of my cc. :) I must confess that I got this idea from another poster somewhere on the MSE forum. But, I love the idea of being about to SEE (and hold) my own money, debit cards are fab, but that's what got me into trouble, it still doesn't feel real to me. It's like virtual money, so my money jars will help me get back in touch with the real thing (and some accountability too :o).

I have already gone through the kitchen cupboards and we've got enough dinners to last the week, so hopefully I can get away with a mini-shop. Although, my mini-shop is usually £40! Fingers crossed for less :o.

I'm also gonna apply this concept with my kids pay-as-you-go clubs. This amounts to £200 (£500 monthly in total, 3 kids and lots (and lots) of clubs). I'm going to ask the bank for specific amount of notes and coins so that I only take out the exact amount each night. I can't count the amount of times that I've taken out a £10 note for a £3 club then the £7 vanishes (?) somewhere! Hopefully, this will add to me becoming a lot more organised (and more conscious of money) whilst taking the added rush out of the evening for having to (always) run to the ATM on my way to the club.

I'm also hoping to do a bootfair this Sunday to keep the momentum going, but at £9 a pitch, it's a bit steep. I'm gonna have another look round and speak to family and friends and see if they know of any other places. I would share with someone, but there will be no space in the car as I'm gutting my house.

Thanx for reading and keep up the good work,
    Here's to being debt-free
