Does BT mobile still work?
Heres a strange one.
I have an old HTC mobile that came with a BT package mobile/TV/phone etc.
I have not been with BT for years and found the old phone in the draw. I am sure I put a PAYG sim in it a while ago. So I charged it up and called my home phone, but got a message " you have no credit, please top up". Back into the draw it went.
I have just had a phone call from my 9 year old son on said phone saying it works. How can this be as there is no credit and also I have not used BT for years. Do I now have a magic phone???

If you are saying why is the pay and go sim still active - maybe BT have a policy not to deactivate it?0

I've still got a phone with a BT mobile sim in. Still works & has £10 still on it. It must be the only sim that doesn't expire these days. Mine is a good 6 years plus oldThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I too have £10 on the sim. Funny thing is, I have never topped up a BT sim with £10 as I have had a contract with 3 for the past 5 years. Very strange. Looks my 9 year old has £10 to phone Grandma

Thanks for the replies0 -

You are confusing BT Cellnet and BT Mobile. BT Cellnet became O2. I think BT Mobile was a MVNO on Vodafone UK.0 -

mm apologies.
I based it on my own experiences, having worked for a global financial company, I had a company phone through bt mobile, and it was on o2 not voda (this was 2 years ago) so assumed they still piggybacked o20 -

O2 haven't been a carrier for BT Mobile since 19th November 2004, on which date the last of their mmO2 legacy business customers were ported to Vodafone's network. On that date Vodafone became BT Mobile's only service provider. T-Mobile were also dropped earlier that year.
Maybe you had an old handset with O2 carrier logo in the software?
BT still operate a corporate mobile phone division, however they do seem to be winding this down - my current employer, with approx 25000 mobile handsets, moved everyone over to Vodafone 'proper' from BT Mobile two months ago, along with all landline, videoconferencing and data services.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -

mm it was a corporate setup with a similar number of handsets if not more, but mine was a modern nokia (although no camera phone as not allowed)we could call company landlines by just their extension number free from mobiles and company to company mobile calls were free too but def was on o2 as i specifically recall it. Perhaps due to their size and contractual / legal compliance rules regarding not to use clients services eg bank accounts etc too, they had a special arrangement0
